Reminds me of people trying to defend Sullinger in the paint. They can’t call it every time.

Fields held the ball too damn long and passed up the right play big game hunting. He was a freak athlete and a competitor can throw a hell of balll but as a QB give me the guy who makes the right play more often then not.
I think I can make a pretty strong argument that Stroud is the only Ohio State QB who has ever consistently anticipated throws and thrown guys open at an elite level. Maybe Smith in 2006 is the exception. We've have good throwers, generally, since Day showed up, but most of them still wait longer than is ideal a lot. Fields did take it to the next level in terms of never giving up on a play even when it was high time to do so and got away with it more often than most through sheer physical talent.Recency bias but not in the same way you are thinking. Watched too much fields in the NFL and noticed he has some of the same issues he had in college but way worse. Aka is he is the epitome of a see it throw it QB vs CJ's anticipation. The difference is we regularly had people wide ass open from the wealth of wide receivers we had so not as much as an issue and now he hesitates on things he see's open not trusting his eyes in addition to that making it worse.
Not to say Howard has his own issues on being late. See the throw to the wide ass open by 10 yards Gee Scott that resulted in a loss of 2 yards cause he threw it late enough Scott didn't have time to stop and turn it up.
Haskins wasn’t bad.I think I can make a pretty strong argument that Stroud is the only Ohio State QB who has ever consistently anticipated throws and thrown guys open at an elite level. I've have sold body parts to see Pryor in that offense with development by someone other than a video coordinator. We always talk about this QB or that in Days offense, I’d like to have seen Fields in a peak Urban Meyer power spread.
His arm to keep you honest? Forget about it.
