QB1 Will Howard (Official Thread)

Jeremiah Smith is short (4) Tuddy’s this year in deep balls that were significantly under thrown. Throw in a few he overthrew or led Smith OB and it gets even more drastic.

Howard’s completion percentage is absolutely inflated by WR screens, and actually one of my favorite routes against man defense but the underneath drag route. Both are very short throws that inflate completion percentage.

But his completion percentage was a bit up and down through the final (5) games on top of being turnover prone. I’m beating a dead horse here but I feel like his average arm strength became an issue when weather got cold and windy.

Two balls that he gave up on because he thought the play wasn’t coming to him put it at a net -2.

I agree he doesn’t have elite arm strength, but you don’t need elite arm strength to throw the deep ball.

He passed up some deep shots this game I think he had but he completed a 20 yard throw on it so I'm not mad.

But short of CJ I'm not sure I'd take another QB of the last few years over him and that includes Fields

Oh, I would take Stroud, Fields, or Haskins over Howard. I just think the nit-picking of Howard’s game is overboard. Howard has the ability to run a top offense successfully.

As of this date 5 years ago, Fields had thrown 40 TDs with only 1 interception, and had 10 rushing TDs.

This Will Howard is a national champion. Period. He just has to be able to handle the adversity that will come the next two games to do it. I felt it coming a d said as much but I figured on weather and him running more. 24-28 300+ yards and multiple TDs was ridiculous though.

No one beats this Ohio State team with this Will Howard. Won't happen.
