QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Frosh of Year, National Champion)

Still insanely accurate, he’s now seeing Inniss in the middle and also showing that he’ll tuck it and run if need be. It’ll be interesting to see how Smith can get TEs involved as well as that was his bread and butter in the NFL. But he now has a room of Ferraris and Lamborghinia to play with. Next week will be an interesting test against a team with a ton of pressure on themselves and their QB and coach.

Super talented thrower but yeah, I’ll say it. I don’t think he’s completely off the “fault” list. That 2nd half was a mess- slightly off, slightly panicked. Still not processing the field to see open guys or he seems like one-read and nothing, which DCs are scheming.

Something is missing still and he’s year 3. When does it really click to have full command? Hope this is the final learning lesson he takes in a loss. That McCuin throw late cannot be missed. He’s so so good but it feels like we need more from him.

Applaud TE Roberts for finding an open area, and moving to it. Sayin's throw, across the body and 24+ yard across the field, was utterly on point. Plus, thought he mighta put a tad too much mustard on several passes, but it's his call to make.

I guess I'm in the minority, but on the whole I thought he did well. Not perfect, but good enough to win. Some unfortunate drops and erratic pass protection hampered him, but he's still taken a step forward from last year with using the legs a bit more.

I agree. I think I was more encouraged by him specifically than most might be. He didn’t look rattled like he did against U and IU. I didn’t see that “holy fuck” body language while he was in the pocket, but it was there and I just didn’t notice because I was a little blasted

Whether the team and coaches can collectively recover psychologically is a different conversation in another thread, but he absolutely played well enough for us to win that game which is all you can ask given the opponent.

A football field is 53 1/3 yards across. That throw was closer to about 45 yards when you account for the width and depth of the throw.

I don't think you're in the minority at all really. As you said, he wasn't perfect but it was good enough to win the game. There were other breakdowns that contributed far more to the fiasco.

He was definitely good enough and played pretty well in the first half.

I have no clue what to think of the 2nd half yes it was bad but it seemed like the whole team just was asleep and not with it for the 2nd half. Obviously this is a big problem but it's a lot deeper than just "Sayin didn't execute"
