QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Frosh of Year, National Champion)

Looking to see Julian put yesterday’s game behind him and get back on track vs. da Hoosiers.

To me, he looked very unsettled, unsure, and lacking in confidence in the pocket too many times yesterday. Was glad to see him tuck it and run on a few occasions. Hopefully, we’ll see him take that next step here.

Trying to think of QBs who might be equal or better. Hoover at Indiana is a huge drop off from Mendoza. The coaster QBs at usc, UCLA and Oregon were over hyped, Manning has been exposed, and Mateer is meh. That leaves Carr, with the ND hype machine and an incredibly weak schedule, and the kid from Alabama. So, really, whose his competition for the O’Brien?

I’m fine with that, but keep him out of the Heisman talk. Two players from the same school going for that only improves the chances of Carr.

For anyone saying Julian isn't a great QB I want what you're smoking lol. He had an off game. It happens.

Just sayin': If you look at Julian Sayin's "Adjusted QBR" and "Completion Percentage" for every game in 2025 and 2026; the Maryland game (i.e. 41.8 and 61.9%) was his alltime worst.

It's pretty clear that last second changes on the OL made him uncomfortable, and it showed. If he doesn't know what to expect, or can't trust someone, it immediately shows. Can't remember a major change on the OL the morning of a game. We should be happy they were able to move the ball at all. It's going to be tough if Siereveld can't come back, but at least they'll have some time to prepare.

He started hot, completing seven of his first nine passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns less than 23 minutes into the game. But then Sayin completed only three of his next nine passes for 21 yards — including a score and a pick-six — before completing his final three throws of the game.

While Sayin showed off his scrambling ability again, he was limited, running for 19 yards on seven carries (excluding sacks). He also fumbled the ball both times he was sacked, turning the ball over to Maryland on one of those occasions.

He discussed the fumbles paired with the interception-turned-pick-six and near interception after the game.

"Disappointed in myself," Sayin said. "The ball security, obviously, is not what we want to do, and really could have been three turnovers, with the one that we ended up recovering. ... I gotta be better in that area and try to improve and get better, and it has to get fixed going into next week's game."
