QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Frosh of Year, National Champion)

He was definitely good enough and played pretty well in the first half.

I have no clue what to think of the 2nd half yes it was bad but it seemed like the whole team just was asleep and not with it for the 2nd half. Obviously this is a big problem but it's a lot deeper than just "Sayin didn't execute"
I dont think anyone is trying to put the whole game on Sayin. It was a group effort to lose this one. But Sayin has not performed well in 3 of the last 4 games. Its a problem. He MUST start making the easy throws underneath.

Hes going to be blitzed, until further notice. If Day and Arther smith can't figure that out it isn't all on Sayin either.

Temp was pretty moderate against IU and Miami last year.

Yeah, it sounds like cope and probably is, but this game started much differently and then the execution degraded so quickly after HT. Even Jeremiah looked off. Lucky bounce or not, the first half offense was in control and getting ~4 ypc and Sayin looked comfortable. Then they’re missing routine catches and throws in 2nd half.

Here is a great breakdown by former OSU WR Coach Zach Smith on a couple of devastating missed throws against Texas. On the first one, there is some pressure in Sayin's face - and that is where he got exposed at the end of last season. The second miss is a little more concerning (to me) - focusing in on Smith too much when Smith is drawing a ton of attention from the D, and missing the open WR for a TD because he didn't go through any progressions. Misreading the D is something that hopefully goes away as Sayin matures - he is still very young. Sayin throws such a catchable ball that if he makes strides in those areas, then we should finish the season out nicely. Especially as our group of new faces grows together as a group.

Literally just watched this. Sayin is killing me. He's so talented but he is still missing HUGE plays in the biggest games. Bro WTF

You have to ask is he progressing? He seems to get nervous with a little pressure (sort of like Manning) and just gets the ball out as fast as possible. If he isn’t willing to stand in, go through his reads and make a throw, that’s a problem.

I'd say as of now he isn't progressing vs equally talented teams

I'd say he stood in the pocket a lot better before getting smashed. Not perfect, but he made some throws down the left sideline with a lot of pain coming his way.

Still needs to improve a lot, but it was not the exact same as last winter.

He's also about to die in the first miss to McCuin. Last year he probably tucks that in for the sack.

The second snap, he needs to move the safety to Jeremiah and throw behind him to Inniss. Brandon becomes opens after he does this, not before.

The first two plays of the third quarter were runs for 19 total yards. then they threw the ball 10 times in the next 13 plays. 7 went incomplete.

I think we could see Julian coming back next year. It's a crowded QB field in the next draft.

Me, being selfish, hopes this is true. I don't want to wish away the best WR in program history, but Sayin seems to be forcing the ball to JS rather than hitting the open guy. Rose colored glasses me blames some of the misses on keying in on #4, and if he doesn't have the pressure to let JS eat, he might do a better job finding the open guy. That could completely backfire when opponents don't have to key in on one guy, and nobody is as open.
