SEATTLE (AP)?Terrelle Pryor?s(notes) night consisted of holding a clipboard, with an earpiece hooked to his left ear and a football tucked under his left arm.

So much for Pryor getting any playing time before his five-game suspension kicks in.

While Seattle?s offense showed some bright spots that should make fans a little less apprehensive heading into the regular season opener on Sept. 11 in San Francisco, most of the focus was on the Raiders? sideline and if Pryor would get into the game.

Raiders coach Hue Jackson hadn?t committed to anything related to Pryor and as the final minutes of the fourth quarter ticked away, it was Kyle Boller(notes) continuing to take snaps and Pryor serving as a spectator.

Jackson said he was briefly tempted to give Pryor a few snaps, but ultimately decided he didn?t want to put Pryor in a situation where he might not yet be familiar with what the Raiders were trying to do.

?I had thought about it, but again there was so much pressure and having to call plays I know he hadn?t had a chance to practice,? Jackson said. ?I didn?t want to put him in an uncomfortable situation. I don?t think that?s fair to the kid.?

IMO...and I have no understanding of these matters, but I did manage to put up a 10 person tent in about 20 minutes last Friday...so I am clearly awesome:

This is nothing more than the players union getting on record as saying they don't like it. They are just putting in a chip they can play later.

TP and his side seemed to have been very involved in the agreement that allowed him into the draft and the 5 gamer was part of that decision. He isn't against it..he is just doing as requested by the union and I don't expect they will make a massive effort to dig a trench and fight the suspension.

I may be way off base..but the tent stayed dry through some pretty heavy rains.

If he fights the suspension it will have nothing to do with violations. That was the reason they were considering not letting him in the draft. That decision was already made...he was in the draft and picked.

I think the appeal would just be players union disagreeing with a suspension of one of their members who didn't do anything wrong under NFL rules. If they claim he "played the system" then they probably should have just not let him in the draft at all.

What virtually nobody seems to mention is that if TP would have declared in January for the NFL Draft, he probably wouldn't have been suspended by the NFL at all.

That's the supposed reason he was suspended because he circumvented the draft and then applied for the supplemental when his eligibility had not changed since January.

But he knew in January he was already suspended for 5 games in the 2011 season by tOSU. If he'd declared back then, Goodell probably wouldn't have done anything, Pryor would have been within his rights to declare for the NFL after 3 years in college.

The 5-game suspension that Goodell is mimicking in the NFL had nothing to do with which draft TP ended up being in. So is Goodell going to suspend players from now on who know in January that they'll miss some time in college in the fall, so they declare for the NFL Draft?
