QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

that's honestly beside the point. I don't think he's ready to go pro myself. When I heard he announced he was staying for his senior year it was no surprise to me. That being said, I don't see the point in coming back and trying to get a redshirt next year and then sit out 5 games the year after that. The NCAA won't stand for him serving a suspension in games that he wouldn't have played in due to injury. He will have to serve his suspension.

So at this point, it seems to make the most sense for him to just go pro now. Get drafted and get some NFL coaching into him and see what happens.

you say I can't wait for him to leave, I won't deny that I will be happy when he's gone for my own selfish reasons. But it goes both ways. You got guys wanting the kid to hang around for two more seasons before leaving. That's for their own selfish reasons as well.

one more question. being suspended the first 5 games, is he going to be allowed to practice and travel with the team during that time?

I'm sure TP has Heisman aspirations. Sitting the first 5 games obviously kills any hope of winning. That will play into his decision. What motivation would he have of even returning?

a lot of decisions and a lot of soul searching for TP over the next month or so. When is the deadline to submit your name for the draft?

I read that it's January 15th, and players have until January 18th to pull back if they change their minds.

Odds are that the decision on the appeal won't be back by then. But I think any expectations of the appeal reducing the suspensions to less than 4 games are unrealistic, since A.J. Green just missed 4 games for virtually the same offense. So the players should make their NFL Draft decision with the thought in mind that they would actually miss the first 4 or 5 games if they return for 2011.

Now that the 5 players will sit out 5 games of 2011 beginning of the season. It does bring up the question that, will some of them(mainly Herron, Posey and Pryor) be thinking of going Pro is a good excuse as any. What do you think. Another question i raise is the feeling of all the Seniors and what they are feeling against these guys for thier actions off the field. I have heard and understood that some of the seniors are very disgruntled ove this matter. Could it be a dividing factor in the locker room. I hope that Tress has a good way of bringing this all together before going down to New Orleans. I guess we shall find out soon enough.

I would have to disagree with you my friend. I think sitting out an entire year could be viewed as a very severe form of punishment. It is not avoiding anything (its actually extending it) and IS within the NCAA rules to do so.

:osu:
Something tells me that our disagreement will be moot - and that consequently we'll not discover which of us is correct. :wink2:

I've got to think the appeal will get the suspensions down to 4 games, equaling AJ Greens. Green sold to a booster. The Buckeyes in question did not.

They didnt come out and report right away so that wont let them get into Marcell Dareus category but it should get them to 4. Of course, that depends on if the NCAA wants to be a legitimately respected organization or not and thats highly debatable.

I would love to see Terrelle step up, say he did something wrong and stupid, is learning from his mistake and he'll be ready to gain leadership of his team starting now and into the offseason. That is all I could hope for.

It seems like people are forgetting that TP wasnt the only player involved here. Not only that but he is not the reason for the recent sucess of the Buckeyes. The TEAM is the reason and we are losing 5 very valuable parts of that team. TP has done a good job but he is NOT a leader and is only a game changer when he's forced to run. He has showed improvment from year to year but his inability to play to his strengths (the run) is what keeps him from being great. He will be always remembered as a good QB on a great team for me regardless of how all this pans out. I am extremely dissapointed in him and the other 4 for what they have done but if they choose to move on then I will be hapy for them. We will reload and do well because "In Tressel I trust"!

If I have any doubts about TPs loyalty... this is a lifetime declaration

He needs to come back. Next year he can still play in 9 games if we make the Conference Championship and a Bowl game. And he might be able to play in 10 if the suspensions are reduced.

He's not ready for the NFL and if he checks out now....idk how I'll feel.

He needs to come back and lead this team.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but even if we lose a game without him and then come back and go undefeated we could still have a great shot at a NC. People will be much more likely to forgive a loss without him than a loss with him.

It's time to man up, take responsibility, and finish what he started here.

Not a leader, huh? Are you on the sidelines and in the huddle? I mean, if you are, then I appologize. Do you think he's not a leader because Herbie tells you this is so? Is he not a leader because of these suspensions over something done more than a year ago?

There are many different ways to lead. The way Terrelle plays is leadership in itself. He is the type of player that makes the OL want to hold a block for a second longer. He is the type of player that makes the WRs come back to the ball and never give up on a play. He is the type of player that spreads the ball around to everyone, so everybody steps up and stays focused. He is the type of player that makes the RBs want to run harder, because if the QB is running over people, running by people, and throwing stiffarms, then I better be doing it to.

His will to win is evident. That will to win spreads. Yes...Ohio State football is about the team, and not one player. But this particular player is the fuel for what is the offensive engine.

What kind of leader would TP be if he just "played to his strength" as you said...and ran the ball all the time instead of checking down and going through his progressions. Maybe HE would have better stats if he was more selfish. But I don't think it would win us more games.

hell, who's to say Braxton doesn't come out the gate and go 5-0 next season while TP sits there and watches. what would you do then? Shades of TP taking over for Boeckman

If Pryor stays and his suspension isn't reduced, in game 6 Tressel will play the best player available. At this point in both players career, does anyone actually think Miller (i.e. freshman) will be a better than Pryor (i.e. senior who has started for three years)?

did anyone think Pryor as a true frosh was better than a QB who had just led his team to a national championship game?

I guess my idea of a leader is someone who doesnt put their TEAM at a disadvantage for some tattoo's. Or someone who has a talent at running the football which will open the passing lanes but instead chooses to make it publicy known he's "a passing QB" not a runner. And another example of a leader would be someone who does whatever it takes to win games not fumble with the game on the line against PSU. Not go 3 and out 3 straight drives while wisconsin runs 21 points up. Like i said, TP has shown improvements over the years and I applaud him but he's far from a leader just because he wants to win. He does have an amazing stiff arm but how many times have you seen him not get a first down because he was avoiding contact? And going off what you said, No im not in the huddle with him. But im sure your not either so I guess your opinnion is just as dead as mine right?
