QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

here's an outside the box option.......redshirt next year and come back to win the Heisman in 2012.

I never thought of that. In all honesty, it would be his best option to get the highest draft choice. Is it worth waiting two years when there is a small chance to be a first day pick though?

don't you have to have a reason to redshirt after you have already played a few seasons? It would have to be a medical redshirt, right? So who want's to break his arm so he can sit out next season

Nah, you can redshirt any time...

Edit: Sorry, reading the thread backwards... explained on previous page.

i see, just read the last couple pages too.

Well, let's be honest, if he's selling all this stuff to help out his family because they need money so bad, there's a good chance he's not going to want to wait another 2 years before getting that NFL paycheck.

So you think it would be better for Terrelle to serve his 5-game suspension in 2012 than in 2011?

Not sure he'd see it that way.

Sit the first 5 games. Then official the redshirt for game 6.

However I see that being a bit detrimental to the team. I mean, who would start at QB in 11'? Kenny? Give him a year as the trigger man knowing full well that Terrelle will be back to take his spot in a year... ? What if KG plays pretty good? Then that's a conundrum I wouldn't want to deal with. The best bet is to come back for your senior year, appeal the suspension and it will most likely be knocked down around 2-3 games max.

Doesn't work that way Max. He's been suspended for the first 5 games of 2011. If he decides to sit out the other 7 games of 2011, he will receive his redshirt.

No two ways around it, the suspension makes things awkward next year. If it was 2 games, not nearly as a big a deal, which is obvious, but 5, it's gonna be tough to make that transfer with the team when you're headed to Nebraska the very next game.

I dunno, it really is a pickle. I really don't like the redshirt idea though, if it's serious. I think playing Braxton early is tricky as well, because if he starts as a freshman and sets the world on fire, or heck, if any backup hits a groove, how do you play that out? But I don't see anyone other than Braxtyon being able to dominate that much as to cause a controvesy. Then again, he hasn't even played a down yet.

Honestly, Pryor needs to come back, but when all of a sudden he comes back with 3 other offensive starters and they are thrown into the fire, how much good will it do him? Best hope is that the suspension gets reduced to maybe 2 games, although that is doubtful. Otherwise, I think he goes pro.

I guess all of this talk about redshirting makes the assumption that Pryor would be the best quarterback on the team in 2012, right? There's good talent coming in and lots of time between now and then. I'm not so sure that the coaching staff would make that decision, even if Pryor were marginally better at that point than the quarterback that ended 2011.
