QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Yep, plus Ohio State was blown out comparably by both Florida and LSU, and the things those teams had which OSU did not were athleticism and depth.

Niether Florida nor LSU were all that much more athletic than we were, if at all. We got blasted by Florida because we went in flat, and Troy Smith fat, thinking the national title was ours already. Against LSU we started out strong but let mental errors, special teams mistakes, and close plays get us out of our game.

Thank God!!! I went to both games. I like your explanation, 'cause I'd hate to think I was a Buckeye Jonah. :paranoid:

Tressel pleased with Boeckman, Pryor
Incumbent looks part; newcomer impressive

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

If there is a textbook on how to bring along a young phenom, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel apparently hasn't read it.

Chapter 1: Shield the kid from unrealistic expectations. Don't put any more pressure on him than already exists.

Yesterday, Tressel had a perfect chance to frame the outlook this season for freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor, to put a box around Pryor's potential and try to control the mania surrounding him.

Instead, after a long jersey scrimmage that was closed to the public and media, Tressel did not hide his pleasure with his five-star recruit.

"He didn't look like a freshman. He has good presence for a young guy," he said. "It looks to me like he's going to be very, very good. He's got extraordinary ability."

For a coach who deals in serial understatement, that's effusive praise.

It's not necessarily that Pryor was dazzling. His day was a mixed bag -- he ran for a score, fumbled after another run, threw one long touchdown pass and had a throw tipped and intercepted.

But in his first live action, clearly he validated his status as a rare talent.

Tressel was asked whether he would be comfortable putting Pryor into a game.

"Oh yeah, absolutely," he said.

Pryor relies on arm, not feet, at OSU scrimmage

OSU head coach said freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor (2) was more interested in throwing than running during Saturday's jersey scrimmage, which was closed to the public.

COLUMBUS -- In about 50 snaps of action in Ohio State's jersey scrimmage on Saturday, Jim Tressel said he called one running play for Terrelle Pryor. It happened to be a quarterback draw for a touchdown.

Sure, the super-hyped freshman scrambled around and gained yards on some broken passing plays, but Tressel had a message he wanted to spread about his No. 3 quarterback after two hours of action no reporters were allowed to watch.

"He's going to find someone to throw to," Tressel said of Pryor. "He's a thrower."

Ha, typical Pryor there :).

I hate scrimmages, I read that I get excited for Pryor and a sinking feeling of Juice Williams running all over the dang field last year and the defense not being able to stop him...lol

All reports and comments from JT are very positive about him. I am excited to see him take the field.

I wonder how fast it will take him to see the field? It'd be awesome if they threw him out there for a situational thing against YSU on the first drive. Down near the goal line in the pistol formation? hmmmmm one can dream atleast.:oh:

Bob Hunter commentary: Tress translated ... He's impressed with Pryor

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Pryor restraint -- When Jim Tressel acknowledged Saturday that he wouldn't hesitate to put Terrelle Pryor into a game right now, my mind shifted into overdrive.
Under normal circumstances, the word-wise Ohio State football coach would have said "he's good, but he's just a freshman." Tressel-ese translation: "He's an amazing talent and will probably play some this season." Or he might have said he could "see him getting on the field at some point this season." Translation: "This kid could be Big Ten freshman of the year."

Gotta go with Bob Hunter...JT just doesn't through praise like that around for anyone, especially a freshman. We already knew TP's amazing but it sounds like he certainly is solidifying that on the field.
