QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Interesting rumor...

Confirmed Rumor: The Michigan Athletic Department got word that a news story will break before the season starts naming Michigan and Oregon as schools with questionable recruiting practices when pursuing Terrelle Pryor. The nature of the ?practices? involves promises made and things that Michigan coaches would be willing to overlook if he were to come to U-M.
The word is that folks associated with Michigan assured Terrelle that his teammate from high school would be given an athletic scholarship to Michigan (no biggie) and that his mentor ?businessman? Ted Sarniak would be given preferential treatment around campus by Michigan. This treatment is said to include payments for travel to and from games for Sarniak and members of Pryor?s family.
While these allegations are being debunked by the folks in the AD now, they have reached out to Rodriguez to confirm/deny the validity. As of last night, Rich has yet to return calls or emails from the Michigan staff regarding this matter. This may end up being nothing to worry about, but could also be very serious if Pryor/Sarniak cooperate with the story.

If he isn't drafted wouldn't he be an UFA an free to sign with anyone..then if he isn't drafted how did he manipulate the draft? To me drafts are a necessary evil but really are restraint of trade. If I am a programer I can go to Apple Google Or whomever IBM can't say we drafted him

I'm not sure why "exploitation" becomes part of this whole equation. Of course Terrelle Pryor exploited his athletic talent to be recruited at a high level by Ohio State and other schools. Of course Ohio State exploited Terrelle Pryor in gaining large dollar amounts for sale of jerseys with his number. Mutual exploitation is what capitalism is all about.

People need to get over their ostensible "moral" compunctions over "exploitation." It's the way of the world, and it has been for thousands of years.

Agreed. It's hard to listen to that argument from someone who is going to pull in six figures within the year-before the age of 25.

I'd just like to see him go away from Ohio so that he can start over. As much of a fist magnet Shanahan is, I'd rather see TP in Washington than Cle/Cin.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

He's not an 'undrafted free agent' until he's been passed over in a draft for which he was eligible. So if he wasn't allowed to be in this supplemental draft, he would have had to wait until next year's regular draft to either be selected or become a UFA.

The "restraint of trade/legality of the NFL draft" issue is probably best suited for another thread in the NFL forum.

This experience should be good for him. He's had his ass kissed for a long time now, all for being a great athlete, it's time to learn some humility.

He's about to learn some humility for sure. He's the least NFL ready college QB I've seen in some time. We'll see how quickly the mental part of the game comes once he starts looking at film and gets a look at an NFL defense.

As far as the rumor is concerned, I hope Pryor keeps his yap shut about every other team that recruited him including UM. It's over now. Move on.

You didn't notice the #1 pick in this year's draft?
