QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

He developed a nice touch on the pass during the Rose Bowl.

Only negatives I can see now are, he still needs to throw the ball away when there's no hope and he needs to follow through on handoffs to perfect the playaction. He still stops as soon as he hands the ball off.

Some more work on passing and fix those two issues, and he will be unstoppable as a QB.

I believe that is why we see a counter ran as a play action. TP fakes the handoff and follows a lead blocker to the opposite side. Having him run a play like that gets him in a habit of rolling away from the handoff. It also gives the coaches a pint of reference for him to look at and build into his muscle memory.

Getting better at attacking the middle of the field will make him unstoppable.

Craig Krenzel was 24-3 as a starter

Rex Kern was 27-2 (if he started all of the games for the super sophs, and given that he had some injury problems, I am not sure if he did or not)

Troy Smith was 26-3 as a starter (not counting the Texas game is 2005 because technically he didn't start)

Art Schlichter was 36-11-1 (if he started every game from '78-81, which I think he did)

I think all of these numbers are correct, but I am not 100%

Buckeye QBs with at least 24 career wins as a starter:

36-11-1 Art Schlichter ('78-'81)
31-03-1 Corny Greene ('73-'75)
30-07-1 Bobby Hoying ('93-'95) - He did start all '93 games over Bret Powers
27-02-0 Rex Kern ('68-'70)
26-09-0 Mike Tomczak ('82-'84) - He missed Oregon St opener in '84
25-03-0 Troy Smith ('04-'06)
24-03-0 Craig Krenzel ('01-'03)
...
19-03-0 Terrelle Pryor through the Rose Bowl (not 20-3 as erroneously stated by John Conzano, starting with Troy, and not counting Texas in Fiesta Bowl)

Not knocking Pryor, or any other QB, but measuring them by wins is like measuring MLB pitchers by wins. Why does the QB get credit for a good defense?

Its all pretty subjective but it would be hard to convince me Art Schlichter on the 2002-2003 team would have resulted in less wins.

If Pryor can stay for another two years, it looks like someone will finally pass my kin for overall wins at OSU. Good to see that record fall.

Yeah, I agree with you. The QB isn't the only person on the field that lets a team win.

But like a pitcher in the majors, either player is the most important in creating a win. If a pitcher throws a CG shut-out the team is going to win and a pitchers job should be rated on how many runs his team is scoring. Say the team always scores 3 runs every game then it is up to the pitcher to only allow two runs every game to be successful. QB is a little different and kind of works in the opposite manner.

If the QB leads the offense to a score every possession and doesn't turn the ball over then all the defense has to do is make one drive ending play to win. Although a QB /P wins should always be accompanied by QB rating(or other stat like comp %)/ERA. Still a team will rarely win with a qb that cant score and isnt successful in running the offense.

Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor served as the honorary captain for the Ohio State wrestling team as the Buckeyes beat Penn State today.

In his first interview since the Buckeyes's Rose Bowl win over Oregon on Jan. 1, Pryor talked about his knee injury, his status as a leader on the team and the goals for next season.

Here's Pryor talking about what he has to do as a leader for the 2010 team and acting as what he says is a role model for Ohio State fans.

Terrelle Pryor says knee still hurting, but pain won't stop his preparations for 2010

Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor on preparing for next year, being a role model

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor said Sunday afternoon that his injured left knee continues to bother him.

Before the Rose Bowl, Pryor revealed for the first time that he had suffered what he said was a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and 23 days after the Rose Bowl, the pain remains.

"It's hurting, you know," Pryor said in his first interview since the Rose Bowl while serving as a honorary captain for Ohio State's wrestling team. "Now that the season's over, it's hurting. I've got to get it back together. Every day it hurts. It gives out once in a while."

Pryor said he plans to have a doctor check the knee again soon, but he doesn't believe surgery is an option that would help the injury. He said former Ohio State cornerback Malcolm Jenkins played with a similar injury for several seasons. But he made it clearer than ever how much the knee affected his play since he was tackled on the sideline against New Mexico State on Oct. 31.

"Every time I dropped back, every time I sprinted, every time I ran, it was just pain," Pryor said. "As I was running, you would think adrenaline would kick in. I took shots and three types of horse pills, and none of it worked."

The Troy Smith effect is occurring. He is becoming a Man, a Leader, a Role model, and a good Quarterback right before our eyes. Boy is it a treat to watch.

Every single question people had about this kid are disappearing one by one.

I sincerely hope after TP goes the fuck off over the next season (or two (please please please)), Buckeye fans give JT the confidence and patience he's EAR-NED.

He's going to ned the ned out of some people next year.

What a nedding beast. You can't ned with that ned. This guy is the ned and will drop some ned on people next year, it'll be ned you've never seen before. If this nedder gets healthy, stay the ned out of the way. Seriously. You will be nedded. And badgered.

They don't give the catcher or the outfielder's win-loss stats. "Johnny Bench, catcher, with an eighteen and seven record against..." It's one of the most important parts of a pitcher's record - seasonally AND lifetime. MLB pitchers win (and lose) games moreso than any other single position.

Just as football quarterbacks win (and lose) games moreso than any other single position. Except for special teams, they are involved in every play. If a team wins it is usually directly attributable to the quarterback and his play (ball-handling, passing, reading, running, etc.) By the same token, if a team loses, it is usually directly attributable to the quarterback and his play.
