God, that guy on the left was completely fixated on Tim Tebow. He was stunned that anyone could possibly be better than him.

It's an interesting comparison, though not a straight one. Their freshmen numbers:

Tim Tebow
Passing: 14 games, 22/33, 66.7%, 358 yards, 10.8 ypc, 1 int, 5 TD, 201.73 rating, 2.4 att/g, 25.6 ypg
Rushing: 14 games, 89 attempts, 469 yards, 5.27 ypc, 8 TD, 6.36 att/g, 33.50 ypg

Terrelle Pryor
Passing: 13 games, 100/166, 60.2%, 1311 yards, 7.9 ypc, 4 int, 12 TD, 145.62 rating, 12.8 att/g, 100.8 ypg
Rushing: 13 games, 139 attempts, 631 yards, 4.54 ypc, 6 TD, 10.69 att/g, 48.54 ypg

Tebow clearly has better numbers, but it's not a great comparison: he wasn't the starter and was primarily used situationally. I was inclined to think that Tebow's numbers were inflated by Florida's offense, but Florida averaged 29.7 ppg in 2006 whereas OSU averaged 27.6 ppg in 2008 - not a huge disparity. Terrelle has a world of talent, but I don't think it's fair to compare him to Tebow (yet).

To be fair, Tebow is amongst the best to have played the QB position in CFB. I know the hype that surrounds him can be a little much at times. But that doesn't change the fact that Tebow has the potential to make a lot of history this year (3rd MNC (already has two), 2nd Heisman (already has one)). That is a very high bar to set before this season even begins.

I give Terrell the advantage because of the 133 more pass attempts. going into their sophmore year...TP has a huge adavantage in experience.

He does have better completion percentage and more rushing TDs, but he was also used in goal line sets and, as you said, barely threw the ball. Pryor wasn't going to get a ton of rushing TDs as a starter because of BEanie. So really I don't think you can say he clearly had better numbers.

I think Pryor will get more rushing TDs this year because he'll be used more in roll outs and QB designed riuns in the redzone.

I agree. Tebow is definitely an incredible player. I just thought it was interesting that when Shaun King said TP had the oppurtunity to be the best quarterback to ever play college football, the first quarterback the other guy thought about was Tebow.

I think the key word there is opportunity; I don't disagree with King that TP has a world of potential. On the other hand, that's a REALLY tall order for a sophomore. We'll see how he does this year - I'm certainly excited to see how much he has progressed.

No doubt. Potential and the fulfillment of potential are two entirely different things. Let's hope TP has the right mental and emotional makeup to fulfill his.

I would take TP over TT every single, mf-ing day. Period.
You would take Freshman TP over Junior TT ever single, mf-ing day? Period?

Tebow, while a Gator, has the same "intangibles" Troy had.. and while TP's potential is awesome, and is bigger, faster.. neither one have proven to have pro arm at this point, IMHO.

I think TP this season or next could become a no brainer.. but I don't know about Freshman TP vs. Junior TT.

I think Tebow was a gimmick as a freshman. I'm not sure that he would've done as well as Pryor if he'd had to be the full-time starter the whole year. Then, UF goes 9-4 with him as a starter. I'm not down on Tebow, but I do think that Pryor is already more special.

Agree on him being a gimmick.. good point on the 9-4 record, but don't forget they play in the MIGHTY SEC  good points Rugby

Cheers, BSG. I think he benefited from having Chris Leak there. Pretty sure there would've been a freshman letdown if he'd had to run the whole show.

That's one HUGE advantage TP has and should make him a more polished player.. he got to start at QB as true freshman..

Was Art Schlichter the last to do this?
