QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Bump....

no way should TP's thread go 12+ hours without a post

I'm kinda surprised it's not getting more action. I mean, it's not exactly quiet, but I thought there'd be a lot more conversation.

Anyway, I agree that play action could be deadly. Also, rollouts and naked boots could be deadly. Rollouts would move the pocket and give Pryor a run-pass option and force the D to choose.

On the first play of the Minny game, I would love to see a play action pass go for about a 80 yard TD. I say we kick the TP/Beanie show off right
:oh:

Forget the play action pass on the first play. I want to see a good ole fashioned flee flicker. I know I know. . . but can't a guy dream.

The interesting part with TP will be seeing his progression ever week for the next 3 or 4 years.

I think we see more of the pistol formation (oh hello again Captain Obvious) it seems to be made for the versatility of TP and the power of Beanie from the I.

For those of us (primarily me) who are ignorant of the advantages/disadvantages of different packages, would you or someone else explain to me what the Pistol package does for us positively and negatively?

Thanks.

Dude, if you bring a pistol to the game you can shoot the other players, duh! The negative side might be prison time, but it's a home game so we should be cool.

In a word: versatility.

The pistol essentially gives you the options of a shotgun in the pass game, while also keeping the D honest with the run. It is a mix of shotgun and singleback offenses. You can use plays like draws and counters pretty easily, while still having the receivers in there to burn the D with the downfield pass.

Someone more learned than I could comment on the negatives, as I am really enamored with the formation and don't see many.:)

It's gonna be sweet if we run it with all cylinders firing!

:oh:

The negatives would be they know we're gonna pass...or run.

:io:

I can't wait to see what a Pryor/Beanie backfield can do.

let the record indicate that beer is good...as well TP. i'm looking for triple digits rushing for both TB and Beanie. As well as, 200+ passing yards with no turnovers.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I like beer, and I hate the SEC, therefore, if you like the SEC you can't like beer, it's a decision that those southern folks are going to have to make, beer or football.

Muffler, not very learned myself, but I believe some of the advantages of the pistol would be it allows the QB to look over the defense from the shot gun formation and still allows the RB to be in his most comfortable position, in the I far enough back to see the holes open up while getting up a head of steam as he heads to the LOS.

Also, if another RB is put beside the QB, it allows for a read option or hand off. The read option seems to be one of Pryor's strengths and I'm hoping to see the offense use it a little more than they are now.
