QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

JT and Urban should get together and discuss a few things after the spring games are done. I bet you see some interesting new plays this year. JT saw the dimension that Tebow and Perrilloux bring to a game (add Juice to the list) and was his usual quick learning self and brought that dimention to his squad by getting TP. While TP did not go to tOSU to start, he did not go there to sit on the bench either. We'll see some work from him.

I'm thinking that your D working against spread plays on a regular basis (assuming you put in a Tebow package for TP) will pay off in spades by the end of next season.

Just a great get for the S&G.

IIRC, Ryan Perrilloux only had one snap the entire game. It was an option to the left. He may have had a couple other snaps but it was nothing like Florida the previous year. And I'm not sure why you're throwing in Juice. I thought your point was JT saw what a two-QB system, with one of them being a dual-threat, can do. Juice played the entire game against us. If you're just talking dual-threat QB's, ever heard of Troy Smith?

I'm sure JT would have seen Perrilloux on film, at least.

Yes, I'm sure he would have. But he brought up 3 specific players that we've played and lost to so I thought he meant up close.

Well, I doubt JT would have been watching extensive film had we not played LSU. I also think watching film to prepare for a player or system would be more useful than the "up close" game view.

I think there's some sort of miscommunication here. What I thought Gatorubet meant was Tebow, Perrilloux, and Juice's performances against us(what I mean by "up close") caused Tressel to think about recruiting dual-threat QB's more often and involving them more in the offense and I disagree with that.

I disagree with any and all articles about TP that predict what he will be when he arrives... sour grapes to the hilt...

He will not be a Maurice... Clarett was a product of his environment and who he surrounded himself with... mainly the bad influences from Youngstown (and not just Mili  ) including his family and 'closest' friends

I am extremely confident that Adams, Brewster, Stony, Sweat, etc.. will have HUGE positive impacts on TP... and if a father who was so concerned that he wouldn't countersign his son's LOI without his son doing more thinking of the situation doesn't show TP has much better folks looking after him... then throw in Batch and the 'Uncle... I am very comfortable with his inner circle and their positive impact on him...

The only similarity he will have with Clarett is bringing us a National Championship
==============
PS Just read Grads 800 pound gorilla thread.. and I still stand by my opinion... I believe his innermost circle is the most valuable influence... and I think he has an excellent one

I think there are probably three sources of plays for the TP package.

1) Plays that worked well against us - Juice, Tebow. I would also include some Dickrod plays in this section as well because we are bound to see them in November. I really like the read option inside screen / misdirection play the WVU ran. It looks simple yet effective.
2) Plays we have in the offense already for Henton - I don't think we have seen the whole package
3) Plays that Jeannette ran and TP is very familiar with.

I agree that practice against a good mobile quarterback will only help the defense.

I think a lot of outside fans still have this misconception of JT being a "buttoned-up, close to the vest" coach/playcaller. When he has athletes, he finds ways to get them on the field and get them the ball. Best example would be Teddy Ginn's Freshman year. He used him in a variety of ways, best example the "Shot-Ginn" formation. 2005 and 2006 saw a lot of different formations for Troy Smith's abilities as well, more with his feet in '05, more for his arm in '06. I guess what I'm saying is, JT isn't gonna have to "learn" how to get TP on the field.

Agreed.

Agreed. Though I think many would benefit from tapering their expectations a tad. The raw potential is as tantalizing as any player I remember, but I'm not ready to start counting MNCs and Heismans just yet. Too many variables in the CFB world.

The Morning Journal - Pryor needs to adjust his image

Another perspective, not mine. Mr. Lloyd's opinion is Terrelle Pryor needs to work on his image. Well sir, who doesn't? An 18 year old not even out of HS yet, is all about image and he may be struggling every day with that just because he's "eighteen and [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT0hhol1Gfc"]YouTube - Alice Cooper - I'm eighteen[/ame]

So get over it and let the kid show us what he can do with that image rather than create an image for him.

Sorry about the Alice Cooper video, but I was making a point with the song not the image of Cooper.

Well, I was not implying a lack of offensive play calling skills on JT's part by that comment, but it is not uncommon for teams that do not have an extensive playbook in a style of play - like the spread - to confer with programs that do. Nothing in that insinuates a lack of competency or conservatism. As to my inclusion of Perrilloux and Juice w/ Tebow I was generally speaking about mobile qbs who JT has seen, and who represent what is a sort of "new wave" of play calling styles utilizing the skill sets of tremendous athletes like Terrelle Pryor.

Gotcha' but we ran a very similar offense to those teams in '05 when we had Troy. Lots of draws, options, and screen passes. That style of offense isn't exactly new to Tressel.

I'd like to see TP run some of the plays we had for Teddy in the Alamo Bowl when Justin Zwick was injured. Mostly draw plays with an option to pass. I don't think that would stunt his growth at all but allow him to ease into the speed of the game vs. having him try and run the entire offense.

Hmmmmm, shotgun, play-action with Beanie Wells, option left with Robo running the deep out and Hartline dragging the middle as pass options. I think that could work quite well.
