QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

I ran a search and didn't see this old article. It's from the summer, but it gives a really great insight into his talent and development.

MaxPreps High School Sports

Some good stuff in there like:

White never will forget a 2006 game in which Pryor (playing safety) hurdled the opposing center's head, landed on his feet and caught the ball coming off the kicker's foot on an extra-point attempt. White's best basketball memory was watching Pryor take a pass on the wing and dunk in the face of Aliquippa's 6-9 All-American, Herb Pope.

I can't wait to watch his development. The kid is just an amazing talent.

he's like a Kobe/Lebron type of athlete. I keep thinking about Young's domination against USC for the title and I love the way he played with the Scum about his decision :osu:

I've been in recovery mode the past few days. So, let me say welcome TP.

I can't think of someone with as much athleticism, potential and ability in multiple sports since names like Iverson, Moss, Winfield, Mauer and Peppers. And look at where all those guys are... ALL-Pro's and All-Stars.

Someone pinch me... think about it. For all of us in our 20's and 30's we've seen some nasty teams.... those a little older have seen some even nastier teams. This years team could be one of the greatest of All-time in college football. Sit back and enjoy the next few years... a huge win streak may begin this year.

I know he got the name wrong, but after watching this spectacle the last few months, I was wondering if the explanation for "The University of Ohio State" was a problem of delivery. I bet it was supposed to be "I am going to The University of...[pause for effect]...Ohio State!" I can just see him trying to mess with the press and the rest of us fanatics, who would make a big deal out of the issue, but he got caught up in the excitement of the moment and his delivery suffered.

The video above, particularly the Reitz one, I think is on point to the "character" issues with Pryor. (Of which, and maybe I'm just naive, there are none.) Shocking.... a 17-18 year old kid doesn't handle himself with the full grace of a 30 year old Michael Jordan....

I don't feel like I'm giving Terrelle a "pass" on his behavior. Fighting for being called a name isn't acceptable.. though, it IS understandable. But the image the media created - with ESPN and all the news agencies that really don't know dick about recruiting (SI, Sporting News, etc.) along too with the services who do know recruiting (Aaaaa-jardy---chooo) to some degree - is now the "problem" with Terrelle Pryor? Utter and complete friggin nonsense.

The media created the very same beast they now rail against. And it's a damn shame it's Terrelle Pryor who has to put up with it. AS 21 said on the 800 lb Gorilla thread.... let any of us - at 17 to 18 years of age - put up with the day to day scrutiny Pryor did without any kind of misstep.

If I'm Pryor, I cant friggin wait until next year's number 1 recruit takes the attention of all these idiots so I can get on with my life.

The only thing is that it's highly unlikely anyone will receive the same type of attention Pryor got for the simple reason of him being one of the greatest athletes in the history of HS recruiting. Shockingly, 6'6 235 lbs QBs who run 4.3s don't grow on trees. Factor in the fact that nearly everyone else signed on NLOID, and you have a recipe for extra attention.

Oh well, Michigan didn't get him. Would have been nice to have him, but I'm not going to lose sleep or call him any names. I wish we wouldn't have been strung along for the ride, because it gave me a glimmer of hope even though I said all along he'd be a Buckeye. It sucks losing him, but we'll find someone else.

While I agree with your comment that athletes like Pryor do not grow on trees, it doesn't even take such an athlete, really. Jason Gwaltney.
