Pryor maintains aura as nation's best

TRIBUNE-REVIEW

SAN ANTONIO -- Sitting among a small panel of the nation's best high school football players Thursday during a U.S. Army All-American Bowl news conference, Jeannette quarterback Terrelle Pryor still stood out from the crowd.
To his immediate left sat California native Darrell Scott, arguably the best running back in the country, who was awed by his peer's talent.

"I'm sitting right next to Terrelle Pryor, the next Vince Young, as they like to say," Scott said.

Pryor grinned sheepishly, almost embarrassed by the compliment. He can't escape the spotlight and the comparisons. Even in San Antonio, a long way from his hometown, Pryor is a superstar among stars, whether he wants to admit it or not.

"I never do feel like I'm a big deal," Pryor said. "I just do what I gotta do and go about my business."

Further proof this kid is enjoying toying with the media and Internet recruitniks...I can't go into detail beacuse this is a premium article but he makes a joke about what it would take to seal the deal for OSU.

Where will Pryor land?
Top unsigned QB to visit Michigan, Florida and Duke
Posted: Friday January 4, 2008

Terrelle Pryor has never talked with Michigan freshman quarterback Ryan Mallett, but until the day Pryor announces his college decision -- and possibly thereafter -- the two will be linked in conversations about Michigan's future.

As the nation's top unsigned recruit and the No. 16 player overall in the SI/Takkle.com rankings, Pryor, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound quarterback who led Jeannette (Pa.) to a 16-0 record and the Class AA state title last month, has become a main priority for new Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez. On Dec. 16, the day that Rodriguez accepted the Wolverines' position, Pryor was driving to the local mall when he received a phone call from Rodriguez. "He showed me a lot of respect by saying I want you to know this before you see it on the news," says Pryor, who will play in the U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio on Sunday. "I immediately considered Michigan again because of his [spread] offense."

Congrats to Terrelle for being named MVP of the 2008 Army All-American Game in San Antonio today. It was presented by Pete Dawkins, a Heisman winner from Army.

The East won 33-23, and Terrelle has 77 yards passing and 80 yards rushing.

Scout.com: Pryor Earns Pete Dawkins MVP Award

Coming in to the game we all knew about Terelle Pryor and his potential to move the ball through the air and on the ground. This afternoon Pryor made a convincing statement in front of a national audience in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl that he is the top player in the country. His ability as a dual-threat helped him cement MVP honors.

Again, word is Pryor asked for the sticker...FWIW.

I've got a little more coming on the now infamous sticker...stay tuned.

EDIT: Gonna go ahead and post this since I have had it confirmed by multiple people...the only thing in question is who had the stickers to start with...I've heard Stoney, Posey and I've heard Brewster.

Here is the story as I have heard it...Posey had the stickers and was going to put one on Patrick Johnson's helmet...just a little fun before the NC game seeing as they knew Johnson was going to pick LSU today. Pryor saw this going on and asked why all the OSU verbals had one and then asked to have one to put on his own helmet.

FYI, my version came from someone who spoke directly to Brewster...and Stoney is the one who provided the stickers but Brewster was one of teh guys handing them out.

All-American MVP Pryor says LSU too late now

San Antonio - Some, especially around Georgia, may consider LSU's Les Miles rather lucky.

Well, some of that luck ran out Saturday.

Terrelle Pryor, the top recruit in the country, had this to say after yet another award had been bestowed upon him.

"I wish maybe LSU recruited me; I would go there with [Patrick Johnson of Pompano Beach, Fla.]," Pryor said after being named the MVP of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. "But it is too late. I'm making my decision on signing day."
