I used to live in Huber, so I'm all too aware. Lemme guess, this "club" was either in the strip mall where Vacs N Videos was, or in the strip mall where the Skanctuary used to be.

It's the old.... Paradox. :slappy:

If it's been that long since you lived here, yes it's in the same shopping center as Vacs N Videos but it's on the strip going towards the road.

Braxton Miller ended spring on high note
Craig Morgan
May 14, 2011

When Ohio State began its spring football practice in early April, Michael Brewster was one player who knew what it was like to be Braxton Miller.

Just like Miller, Brewster entered school for winter quarter and went through spring practice with the Buckeyes when he could have been enjoying the final days of high school. And like Miller, the OSU center stepped onto the field for spring ball having to learn how to play a vital position on the Buckeye offense.

"It really is hard," Brewster said of playing center or quarterback, two positions that control the lion's share of presnap decisions among other responsibilities. "To me now it seems like it's not that big of a deal, but I just try to remember when I was a young guy. I was lost out there, just like everybody else the first few times. You have to give him credit for sticking in there and trying to understand a little more each day."

Ten early enrollees who made an impact during spring practice

Braxton Miller, QB, Ohio State

If things break right for the Buckeyes, Miller will start the first five games of 2011 and then not see the field again until 2012. But the freshman's play could have a big impact on the national championship chase.

Miller, who was 7-for-12 with one touchdown during Ohio State's spring game, made big strides in the four-way battle to start while Terrelle Pryor serves a five-game suspension for his role in the trophies-for-tattoos scandal that has engulfed the OSU program. If the dual-threat quarterback from Huber Heights, Ohio, gets the nod to take snaps while Pryor is out, he and the Buckeyes will face two major obstacles: Miami in the third game of the season and defending co-conference champion Michigan State in the Big Ten opener.

The Buckeyes are dreaming big this year, but the season could come down to how Miller plays early. If Pryor returns to a team carrying two losses, he won't be competing for a national title.

2011's early impact freshmen
Which first-year players are positioned to pay immediate dividends?
Dave Miller

Ohio State QB Braxton Miller: Miller could have made the initial list, but I just don’t think Buckeyes head coach Jim Tressel would insert Miller as the starter knowing that Terrelle Pryor is coming back to finish the season. I think Joe Bauserman or Kenny Guiton ultimately gets the call under center — though Miller was arguably the most impressive signal caller in the team’s spring game.

I can't see Bauserman starting. Unless his throwing has dramatically improved. Watching him take over for Pryor last year for a few snaps was a nightmare.

I say we start Guiton or Brax. Does Brax remind anyone else of Troy Smith a little bit?

With Pryor probably gone, I'm pulling for Guiton this year. Redshirt Brax and let him sit out this disaster for a year.

This years team is pretty good....with possible probation and ensuing recruiting fallout, this may be the best team Brax gets a chance to play with.

This. It depends on who gets to play this season, but I'd rather have Braxton on the field learning how to lead THIS year because next year he might be all we've got.

Roderick Smith tends to disagree with this statement. As does Jamaal Berry.

Jamaal was one of the players mentioned in the SI article. That's why I said we'll have to see who gets to play.

I know we've got a lot of young talent, but in terms of leadership I think it's going to be Braxton or bust.

R. Smith still begs to differ! :tongue2:

Well, it could be "a whole new ballgame" with Fickel as interim head coach. His motivation will be to win as many games as possible in the short term (2011) to keep the job perminately; and that may mean starting the senior (i.e. Bauserman) who may be less likly to make those mental mistakes, etc. I haven't been impressed with Bauserman's performance either; however, that may due to lack of reps with the #1 offense in practices and very little quality game experience (i.e. mostly garbage time) which didn't allow him to get comfortable at QB and/or into a rythem.

Regardless, I do believe that Miller is the "real deal" and/or the future of Ohio State football.

I think With Luke at the helm, who's motivation is to win to possibly get the full time gig, the battle will shake down between Braxton and Grahm, the two who have the most upside and can win games throughout the span of the season, as opposed to just the first 5 games.
