QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Been watching all the videos in this thread tonight. Love the one where he graded his performance last year as a "D". If that was a D and Urban saying he's starting to hit ceiling potential (Grade A), I can't even imagine what this kid is capable of because he was a special talent at a D grade. Pretty sure I pissed myself with excitement.....

Twice. :susp:

I'm pretty sure he was referring to his leadership last year, not his on field performance.

His pocket presence, passing proficiency and decisions in the option game were all rather weak which dd. Instead s's how stupendous his potential is once he develops on those areas. The one constant last year was the running game and yet even there he left a lot of yards on the field by making the wrong read.

This year is going to be fun

Oh absolutely. I was more referring specifically to the "D" grade. That was for his leadership I thought, not on-field performance. But I'm also quite excited for his improvements on the field :).

Edit: I just re-watched the clip, and maybe he's talking about his fundamentals; it's hard to tell. He says about last year that he gives himself a D+ towards "leadership being vocal, fundamental wise," but I'm leanings towards him actually referring more towards his fundamentals with that grade. If so, awesome.

I think he was talking about his fundamentals. Watching old game film last year he did miss quite a few throws. If he makes half of those and Devin catches half of his drops that's a huge impact which says nothing of the rest of the offense

Ah. Misunderstood him them. Happens when you watch video after video at 2am. Regardless, I still piss myself with excitement to see what he can do with all the weapons we have on Offense.

Braxton Miller, not Johnny Football, new Heisman betting favorite

Thanks to the uncertainty swirling around Johnny Manziel and his myriad Herbie Hancocks, the reigning Heisman winner is no longer the degenerates? favorite to take home this year?s version of the stiff-armed trophy.

In odds released by Bovada.lv, Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller is now a 9/2 favorite to win the 2013 Heisman Trophy. Back in February, Miller?s odds were 7/1. Jadeveon Clowney, who enters the 2013 season with arguably the best chance of becoming the first-ever strictly defensive player to claim the award, sits right behind Miller 6/1.

When they asked Braxton what he is better at as the result of Fall camp, I heard him to say "timing and ball placement". When I googled that, very curiously, google hit an interview of Herman, back in his Iowa State days. Although there are no earth shattering insights, I did find it to be moderately interesting:

http://gc.inisites.com/news.php?ID=4162

Two summers ago Herman?s approach to quarterbacking changed.

He visited Northwestern. He studied under Wildcat offensive coordinator Mick McCall.

He learned about McCall?s saying: Timing and ball placement never lose. A new appreciation of accuracy was born.

?There is no coverage, no scheme, no ?my guy is better than your guy on defense? where timing and ball placement won?t win out,? Herman said.

Timing and ball placement. It?s a big part of how Herman judges if his quarterback does the right thing when that defensive tackle is about to hit him.

Consistently putting the football in the right spot, at the right time, is the end result Herman seeks in quarterback development.

?You can?t survive in today?s game without it,? Herman said.
I connect it with an interview Meyer did 2 years ago, when he described what it was like to have Mike Leach as a guest speaker (crazy), and how Leach claimed that a certain route could be thrown when there was a certain defensive scheme. Meyer initially believed that there could be no completion in that scenario, but Leach convinced him that a certain ball placement would always win.

The BUCKS could be amazingly good this year on Offense, now that Braxton and nearly everyone else, has a year in the system. We have an exceptional OL, the receivers have improved significantly and we have some new, exciting young talent with speed to burn. Can't wait until Saturday get's here.
