QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

He runs like a running back. If you notice, running-backs get to come out of the game several times, whether due to injuries, scheme, or just out of breath. Braxton doesn't have this luxury because he is the quarterback. When he comes out of the game for a few plays, it's easier to notice because he is the QB. This makes him all the more impressive to me, especially when he goes for 20 carries or more a game.

another reason Kenny Guiton needs to get more playing time. :)

regarding the horse collar, i know that technically, in a to-the-letter interpretation of the rule, it wasn't a horse collar tackle.
the thing is, the rule was put in place to prevent injury by being yanked to the ground in an awkward and dangerous manner.
if the letter of the law is being upheld, but the spirit is not, that being, to protect players, then the law is useless.
Braxton was yanked to the ground in an awkward and dangerous manner.
the letter of the law was upheld, but the spirit of the law was broken.
so what's to stop guys all over the place from yanking people down in an awkward and dangerous manner from the outside of their jersey?
will not the rule be amended to include this loophole?
not to mention the fact that the NFL generally has expanded its interpretation to include grabbing the top of the jersey outside the collar.
i know it's not exactly apples to apples, but not necessarily apples to oranges either.

Great point!

Plays like this should be considered a penalty too...why draw a hard line (horsecollar) with "inside the shoulder pads" when it's only player safety that suffers? If it has the same effect (injury wise) throw the flag or get rid of the damn rule altogether.

I don't know if I really want officials to have the ability to make more judgement calls. Write the rule -- if it doesn't take care of the problem, fix the rule. Change the wording to include the jersey and the collar. But PLEASE don't put more vague rules in the book that allow/force each referee to enforce them at their discretion.

That's how we end up with OSU being penalized twice for a player making an "O" symbol to the crowd with his hands Oregon does the same thing without penalty. Or Sanantonio Holmes gets penalized for pointing to the sky as he runs into the endzone -- a move Reggie Bush did repeatedly with no penalty.

It sucks that Brax got hurt, but per the explicit writing of the rulebook, it was not a penalty. The referees shouldn't be calling penalties just because somebody got hurt, in my IMO.

If the NCAA is rewriting the rulebook for 2013, can we get Rule 1, Section 1, Paragraph 5 of the NFL Rulebook in there before shit gets more out of control than it already is?

The surface of the entire Field of Play must be a League-approved shade of green.

*RANT* I am so tired of people calling Miller soft and much worse from people who miss work with a toothache. And if they suffer whiplash from a car accident they runaround in a cervical collar for months. Would they feel Better if Miller puts on a cervical collar and miss the rest of the year. I don't hear a peep from people who actually have played the game challenging Miller, RANT over..

To be fair, we have done, and do the same thing to Denard Robinson

Denard's cervical collar would be for his cervix, though.

i think he would have said, "personal foul, horsecollar, number 28 defense, 15 yards from the spot, first down."

What part of "That's not a horsecollar tackle" don't you understand? What's next? Calling offsides on a pass interference call?
I agree it wasn't a horsecollar tackle, but I think personal foul (being a subjective call inherently) would have been appropriate.

This is a great point, his running will net him a nice piece of hardware sometime soon AS A QUARTERBACK. He will also be in the 1000 yard club this weekend if all things go right. Also very impressive. Oh yes, he can run the offense, absorb some hits, and get back up and pass a long ball to Devin Smith hitting him in stride.
