QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

I am a medical professional with a lot of TBI experience. If he is doing what he should and getting a lot of brain rest right now he should be good to start next week. I'm not there, I don't know him, nor have I examined him so trust the team docs and ignore anything I have said.

This wasn't team doctors. These were the doctors actually at OSU hospital with their full compliment of equipment.

That being said, I hope on Monday they run another set of tests before bloody Tuesday and make sure he's actually good.

Great news so far. I'll trust the medical professionals and the coaches to make the right decision about Braxton coming back. If they all agree he can play next week, he'll play. If he can't, Kenny G has shown we can put some trust in him.

I'm not a medical professional, but sorry, there's no fucking way that Miller did not have some sort of concussion...no fucking way. The symptoms may have subsided/disappeared but he was virtually out on his feet when they stood him up, and how long was he down on the carpet? He was clearly fucked up pretty badly.

I'd sit him the next game and let Kenny G take the snaps. Fuck the undeafeated season...make 100% sure that you don't risk getting Miller seriously hurt next week by rushing him back.

I totally agree, UFM can be comfortable with Kenny G in the game. Let Brax sit a week or two and be ready to play against Wiscy and Scum. This season has already surpassed most expectations. Play Kenny and Cardale in the next couple of games and get them some PT. Let Brax "heal" and keep his well-being first and foremost.

I'm unsure how someone can go from writhing around on the field for minutes, not being able to breathe or walk, hunched over on the sideline crying and looking like he's about to vomit, and being in pain to the point that he can't keep his eyes open while he's being loaded into an ambulance to being declared "just fine" about an hour later.

I know everyone is thinking concussion...but I had to deal with vertigo a couple months ago. The doc told me, basically, that there are a shit ton of different reasons for vertigo. One was that the tiny crystal structures in the middle ear can get knocked loose, causing vertigo. I really think he got bumped on the head, was dizzy as fuck for a couple hrs, then was fine. All the symptoms you describe, I dealt with...except crying. The not keeping his eyes open, I didn't open mine for almost twelve hrs one day...as soon as I did...face, meet floor.

So now we're going to call a penalty based on whether or not the player happens to get hurt?

Put away the jump to conclusions mat. Your assumption is not connected with what I actually stated.

Currently officials call unnecessary roughness on hits that don't technically violate the NCAA rules as currently written...and that in the past would have made highlight reels.

If horse collar tackles are deemed to be a safety issue because of specific effects on the offensive player (being jerked backwards onto the ground) then there is no reason that an official cannot call unnecessary roughness on a tackle that produces the same effect regardless of whether it causes an injury.

God forbid a rule that was implemented to prevent injuries actually be used to try & actually accomplish that goal.

Note that nowhere did I say that the refs were wrong in not calling a penalty (*cough* Hyde *cough*) merely that there is already a precedent set for calling penalties on 'dangerous' tackles even when not specifically outlined in the rules.

I'm sorry Brax got hurt as much as anyone but it's football. It happens. If we change rules every time someone gets injured we'll be playing flag football soon.
What is this 'we' nonsense?

Couch potatoes choking on seven layer dip & washing it down with beer aren't playing anything.

Had this happen to me my freshman year at OSU. Was playing intramural softball, hit a grounder to 3B and the fucker threw wide and earholed me on the throw to 1st.

Well, whoever it was, it sure as hell wasn't Mark Dantonio's sideline medics. The program will put Braxton's safety first and foremost.

Yep, just meaning, they waited until full blown medical people with all their equipment said it. Not just menial equipment and "pull" tests to diagnose him like they did at MSU. We're in agreement here. :oh:

Safety is the #1 concern with Braxton, but anyone that has been hit as hard as Braxton was, especially being drug down from behind, knows that it can take awhile to shake off the effects. It's possible to have the symptoms Braxton had (loss of balance, difficulty breathing etc) and feel better/no effects after a few hours.

I believe we can beat Pedo State with Guiton/Hyde, and in fact Braxton being out would force the team to really use Carlos more, which I think is a good thing going into our late season gauntlet of Wisky/scUM.

I've seen and heard people make a big deal about seeing Braxton cry. Why would the kid not cry? He couldn't even see straight or stand up. The dude is trying to lead the team to victory and he can't even get up off the ground. I'd cry too. Anyone questioning his toughness based on crying is a fucking moron.
