QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

While I'm excited about Braxton's potential and always have been (shoot, I made this thread back in his freshman year when he was a WR at Wayne), but the Heisman stuff is a long ways away right now. Not to mention, you can have a spectacular season and still fall short...if Braxton plays on the same level as any of Luck, Richardson, Griffin, etc. I would be pumped and they aren't all going to win.

Urban can develop QB's like nobodies business, but Braxton really has to work on his accuracy. When he got the chance to throw the ball more often towards the end of the season, I think we finally saw what Bollman meant about lack of precision (as much as I hate to say that). He can make the circus throw but now he needs to work on becoming consistent and making the mid-range and routine throws. I have little doubt that Braxton will make the strides he needs to under Urban and whichever QB coach we pick up, but just saying the he did have some significant struggles throwing the ball this year. Understandable as a freshman no doubt and he has all the tools, but I think we might be getting ahead of ourselves.

Evege played their his senior year, after transferring from Xenia. Wayne is very kind to OSU and if OSU offers, it is about the same as offering a Glenville kid. It is true that Minton does love OSU as well, so ditto Cleve.

I agree that the Heisman stuff is a long way away right now. But immediately after Tebow's freshman season, some people were saying that Tebow would win a Heisman under Urban. Those people were mocked on this board.

So yeah, winter conditioning, spring ball, summer conditioning and camp make it a long way away even if he does surprise me and win it as a Sophomore.

Having said that, riddle me this: Has Urban Meyer EVER had a quarterback that fits his system as well as Braxton fits his system? EVER?

IMHO the BEST quarterback for the Meyer system is one who is elusive and has a quick release. Alex Smith was much closer than Tebow, but he's not in Braxton Miller's zip code, athletically.

Tebow was a great success because he's a rare athlete for a guy his size, not because he was a great fit. Urban modified his offense to make use of a fullback with a glacial release. Braxton's elusiveness, ball handling and quick release require no modifications. Braxton is, in my opinion, EXACTLY the athlete that Urban Meyer had in mind when he devised this offense.

It's going to be a heck of a ride.

So you're saying as long as Braxton doesn't steal another student's laptop and then throw it out the window when the cops are at the door, all the while maintaining a gpa in the Blutarsky zone, we're good to go.

If he does, he gets tossed out of the program, his father end up pimping him to Sparty for a new roof and it all bites us in the ass.

Confident that Brax is not Cam, I can live with those conditions.

Brax is a great fit. Just sayin', Cam was a perfect fit athletically/skill set wise, for the Mullen spread. People forget how close that was to UF reloading with Cam...had he not had character and academic issues that caused his departure of course.

You have it wrong. He has to be pimped to Penn State and then sign with Sparty. There is an intermediary step.

I'm confident that Brax will do well. I was just answering a question about athletes fitting the system. Cam did, IMO.

Are there really any QBs out there next year that could contend for a Heisman? Luck will be gone, I suspect RG III will declare.

Great point and very valid.....but the fact that JB didnt get him 80 plus percent of the reps in fall camp and didnt start him from day one is the difference between BM being behind and have an 8 or 9 win season this year. If you add in the fact that JB opened up the offense for one half against NEB and most of a game against michigan university then I put a majority of the lack of development on JB`s shoulders and horrible play calling. JB being reactive instead of proactive and a ton of defensive injuries caused this mediocre year. Christmas came early with Urban. Go Bucks
