QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

I noticed several times when the camera had a face shot on him standing behind the LOS slowly looking over the defense before calling the snap cadence...he looked completely relaxed, focused, and unphased...totally 180-degree opposite of just a month ago. Folks have made comments here and on Facebook about "look out in 2013" and "he's going to be great next year". Forget that. If he continues to progress like he is now, he'll be great by the time he steps foot in The Pig House in a month.

Troy Smith, 3-0. Terelle Pryor, 3-0. Braxton Miller, ... ?
He'll be the first Buckeye QB to go 5-0.

What I like about Braxton Miller...

I've said this before, and I still believe. This kid plays full go every down. He is 100% each play. What I mean is that he's giving it his all every time he has the ball. He plays faster and thinks faster than his opponents. He exploits defenders and makes them look silly. A quick cut here, a sprint here. He's not the fastest player in college football, nor does he need to be. He's not always going to make the right decision and he's going to get smacked around. But he's about getting yards and moving the sticks. He'll fight for every inch on every down. He dictates the game and doesn't wait for it to happen.

Once he gets his touch under control in the passing game (and an offense to adapt to his strengths), look out. Sure it's cliche to say, but it's the truth.

He was so on point in the passing game from the get-go. His first two incompletions were a perfectly thrown deep ball to Philly, which he badly dropped. His second pass was a perfectly thrown crossing pattern to Stoney on third and long, which he also badly dropped. 6-9 after that. His quick decisions and point throwing on the slants were impressive. Then obviously the game winner to Devin Smith was a thing of beauty. I could not have been more impressed with Braxton Miller Saturday.

The result was a thing of beauty, but I wouldn't call the flight of the ball itself beautiful. I've seen punts with less hang time.

Then again, I won't belabor the point. Brax threw it 45 yards across his body with neither foot on the ground. Half the people that criticize QBs on the Internet probably couldn't throw a collegiate Wilson football 45 yards with a weeks' worth of coaching, practice, and no pass rush. :)

Challenge accepted.

Either way his eyes remained down field, and as a Freshman that's impressive in itself. The win is huge for his confidence and I can't wait to see what he does against TSuN *evil grin*.

I am happy for the outcome and Braxton. The play calling almost took a great night away from him and the defense. The RB's, TE and even fullbacks made big plays for Wisconsin but for some unknown reason we can not do those plays. If it is not a slant or a bomb then it is a run.

Miller Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week
Buckeye signal caller named top frosh after three-TD effort vs. Wisconsin

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The best game of Braxton Miller's collegiate career - three touchdowns accounted for including a game-winning TD pass with 20 seconds to play - has earned the quarterback from Huber Heights, Ohio, the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week honor. Ohio State defeated No. 15 Wisconsin, 33-29, Saturday in front of the seventh-largest crowd in Ohio Stadium history, 105,511.

Miller scored the first two touchdowns of his career before capping the game with his most important TD pass to date. He coasted in from the 1 yard line in the third quarter for his first collegiate score - after sidestepping a UW defender - to give Ohio State a 10-7 lead. Then he burst off the left edge for a 44-yard sprint - behind key blocks from a pair of Dublin Coffman graduates, Mike Adams and Jake Stoneburner, and Andrew Norwell - in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 26-14.

And then after Wisconsin scored two touchdowns inside of the final four minutes to take a 29-26 lead, Miller threw his sixth touchdown pass of the season, a 40-yarder to fellow freshman Devin Smith with 20 seconds to play to give Ohio State the come-from-behind victory. Miller kept the play alive by scrambling to his right and, just before crossing the line of scrimmage, sailed the ball off one foot to an anxiously awaiting Smith for the game-winner.

For the game, Miller rushed for a career high 99 yards and passed for 89 on 7 for 12 passing for a career high total offense day of 188 yards.
