A) I'd like your details as to why Quinn has a "better arm" than Troy.

B) Our oline really started to come along in the later part of the season (I'd say about the last 6 or so games) We might need to address the right side a bit. But if fully healthy and a compitent QB commanding the offense, there's no reason why Troy wouldn't do jsut fine.

I disagree strongly that Quinn has a better arm. In fact, from what little we've seen of both, the only thing he has on TS (for certain) is the physical attributes.

Aside from height, those attributes don't mean much since it appears that Quinn has brittle brone disease.

Seriously, the kid is a workout machine and he's been hurt the last two seasons. Can't say the Oline was perfect but good god man.

he isn't alex smith. smith is not good, but is good enough to be a band aid until a worthy starter is in sf. quinn is not that imo

Harbaugh: "Troy Smith is a Raven"

Ravens coach John Harbaugh continued to repeat the organization's stance on back-up quarterback Troy Smith this week at the NFL Combine, saying he expects Smith to remain with the Ravens in 2010.

"I see him still with the team," Harbaugh said. "Troy Smith is a Raven."
The Ravens have said they plan to keep Smith as Joe Flacco's back-up.

"I think he's really a good quarterback," Harbaugh said. "I think Troy can play quarterback in this league as a starter. That's why we like him as our backup because at some point in time we're going to need a guy to win two, three, four games for us if Joe gets hurt.
Troy is our backup quarterback at this point and I don't think we're going to change that unless it benefits our football team."

We need him in Baltimore!
We think he is a really good quarterback.
We're not going to change that opinion unless it benefits us!
You know like unless maybe we can get a 5th round draft choice for him.

Until the Eagles decide to shop one of their spare arms, things look pretty quiet these days on the quarterback carousel. But in the backup market, I expect the recently released Todd Collins to land somewhere fairly soon if he still wants to play. Collins, 38, was part of the 10-man roster purge executed by the Redskins on Thursday, but by Friday the Ravens had already reached out to Collins in the form of offensive consultant Al Saunders.
Saunders was Collins' offensive coordinator both in Kansas City and Washington, and Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron helped coach Collins at the University of Michigan in the early 1990s. The only question mark is how new Baltimore quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn feels about Collins, who he didn't seem all that excited about when he had him in the backup role behind Jason Campbell in Washington.
Ravens backup quarterback Troy Smith has requested a trade or some other ticket out of town, and Baltimore doesn't seem bent on keeping him. They tendered Smith at only his original draft round (the fifth) in restricted free agency, so someone could pick the former Heisman winner up rather cheaply. Collins could well slide into the No. 2 role behind Ravens starter Joe Flacco on a one-year deal.
Other teams that might be a decent match for Collins include the Giants, who are expected to lose backup David Carr in unrestricted free agency, and the Cardinals, who need a veteran option behind newly re-installed starter Matt Leinart.

Because a lot of guys get hurt during the season, and you could face a critical division game or two (or a playoff run) with a 36 year old limp-dick Michigan QB instead of a young, athletic up-and-comer.

I really hope TS gets out of Baltimore, but I hope, even more so, that he lands in a place where he can shine. I have to believe that after he saw Brees do so well in the Super Bowl that Troy has an incredible desire to get his chance, specially given the way that his health cheated him from his last opportunity. All of the things that made people doubt Brees are the same things that make people doubt Troy.

If he gets somewhere with a decent O-line and skill position players, I think he can become a solid starter and maybe a star, but it will be really tough if he ends up somewhere where he is running for his life with nobody to get the ball to.

The past work ethic is irrelevant to the future work ethic of an employee who has demanded a trade because he is unhappy with the back-up role.

:lol: Look, if he dosen't work hard he won't be ready when his oppurtunity does arrive.. Troy will be working hard regaurdless of where he is.
