QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

ESPN's Matthew Berry, who does a lot of work for ESPN's fantasy football and baseball segments, threw in this line in a column yesterday under the heading "Guys I Love" for a sleeper & bust list:

Troy Smith, QB, Ravens: Think he wins the gig. And think he does something with it.

ESPN - Berry: Guys I love, guys I hate - Fantasy Football

Troy got a supporter at ESPN. Hell has also frozen over.

I heard that pigs were spotted flying over ESPN HQs in Bristol as well!

Troy's Time
POSTED June 24

Troy's confidence should spark the offense and produce points. (Google Images)

You have to like Troy Smith's prospects for leading the Ravens this season. Kyle Boller, I'm sorry, but your erratic play and suspect leadership have worn out their welcome.

Time to go.

Joe Flacco, your job is to study and learn and learn and study. Your time is coming. Grab a clipboard and get comfortable.

While Troy is still a little green, he has the confidence to believe that he can lead the offense. I think he deserves the chance. He has a little seasoning (stress little here), and, more importantly, he's athletic and fits perfectly into the kind of offense Coach Harbaugh and Coach Cameron want to put on the field. Sure, there will be growing pains and mistakes--some of them egregious--but Smith should get the chance.

Maybe it's just me, but Kyle Boller was just not getting it done. At his worst, he embodied indecision and poor execution. Sometimes on the same play. And even with several seasons under his belt, I just don't see much development. I'm sure the defense felt like they had to score points every game to bail out the offense.

And now that JO is retired, Smith's mobility could become crucial.
We'll have to see what the coaches decide, but here's one strong vote for Troy Smith.

I see a number of Buckeyes in his Valentine's Day list. Troy was only one. I wonder if I could put together a Buckeyes-only Fantasy team. Yes, I think I'll try it.

Troy was a GREAT player. I really did kinda feel bad for him when we beat them. He had such a bad game. I thought it was really classy of him to give credit to our team, and to take the blame fo the loss. It wasn't his fault though. You guys were just out matched. I hope he succeeds it whatever he does. Seems like a great guy.

There is truth in his comment about being outmatched.

Not because we weren't a capable team, but because of our lack of preperation, focus and intensity.

I am still a firm believer that had the Buckeyes from the 2006 scUM game bothered shown up, it may have been a completely different story.

let em talk smack they didn't make it back last year and BTW where is Chris Leak now?????:wink2:
Does it matter where he is now? He has a ring on his finger, Troy dosen't.

I'm still sick ove the fact the Browns got Quinn while the Ravens stole Troy in the late rounds..

Troy will show everyone what a steal he was this season.
