kick troy smith outta here.

send a GD message.

who cares, he aint worth this crap. he knew better when he took it, regardless if the booster is a peice of shit that has also helped get geiger removed.

i tired of this crap. ohio state is too good for this. andy is too good to be treated like this.
Has anyone looked at it form Troy Smith's point of view? Imagine you are a college athlete coming from most likely a middel class family and somebody gives money. I dont care what the rules say, and nobody can say for certain that they wouldnt take the money. I know this goes on at other colleges, and these kids are yound and dumb right now they think they are on top of the world. Give him a break people make mistakes and sometimes they get caught. the person who should be blamed was the booster.

To defend Troy Smith

I have read many posts and heard many people say that Troy Smith should be kicked off of the team. I do agree TS needs to be punished but plain and simple EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES. Look at his situation from his point of view, you are a rising college athlete in a top college and you just beat your teams biggest rival (which has been listed as the bigest rivalry of the 1900's by ESPN). You come from a (most likely) middle class family and now you are being congratulated left and right and somebody offers you money, what would you do? I know that it is extremely hard for anyone to say for certain that they would not take the money. I do know that I would most likely take the money. The person who should face the harshest punishment should be the booster. Things like this go on all of the time at all competitive collages, I just hope all of the stories will be listened to in this case.

He knew the rules when he took the money as well as the booster so he is to blame just as much as the booster bottom line.

If I were in his position I would say that I probablly would take the money and even if I didnt like it Id take the punishment. I dont think he should be kicked off the team but should serve whatever the ncaa requires of him.

I defend people/companies for a living, but I'm not willing to cut Troy Smith any slack for this. It wasn't a mistake. He didn't slip. It was a choice, straight up. He knew it was wrong and could severely hurt the program and school, especially given the other issues that have come up in the last couple of years, and he did it anyway. Regardless of future success, I will be disappointed to see Smith play another down for the Bucks.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH SH*T My bad. Well except for that part i still think the rest should stand. Sorry about that.
Except that it lends credibility to the ESPN argument of "You don't start paying players with your backup QB... who else got paid?" I think this stuff happens everywhere so of course it follows that I think it happens at my beloved OSU... unfortunately we're the ones under the microscope right now... F'n Clarett!

He took the damn money, plain and simple. He knew the rules which means he is either stupid, ignorant or a thief.

Or ALL the above.

There are no excuses when you are well aware or the rules.

If I go out and rob a bank should I be excused because I came from a middle income family and needed the money? I THINK NOT!

Smith

has had multiple infractions since high school and in college

took the money

assisted in pushing Bemoll out the door

assisted in pushing Geiger out the door

called out Tress for more playing time to the media

If Smith called you to work for your company at this point in time, would you hire him ...........................................................................................

I loved his performance in the Michigan game

That does not cut him any slack.

EspIn .... just posted Geigers retirement on their front page .....

when you read the story ... they have put up a side bar with all the

ESPN news headlines over the last year or so .... about Clarrett /OSU

including 'Smith takes cash from Booster'.....

This story was dying, and Smith breathed life back into it ....

even though it just happened to come to light at the right/wrong time.

The fact that it came when it came has cost us Geiger and a recruit ...

so far..............

Thanks Troy.

It's so easy for all of you to say "He knew it was wrong." And yes he did know it was against the rules. But like i said before none of us have ever been in that posistion. And he is having people tell him it's OK (such as the boosters). He knows that this stuff goes on all the time at other collages and kids never get caught. Before people want to put TS on a steak make sure this issue is addressed at all collages.

Plus for those of you who dont like what is going on with TS and are pissed Geiger is going well tuff maybe he should have done something about this problem before it started.

Im not saying what he did was not wrong but give him a break. He will learn if we give him a chance. I think that his punishement should involve less playing time but it should not mean the end of his season. There are many other ways to make up for what he did being kicked off of the team shouldn't be the first punishment that comes to mind.

No biggsj6030, some of us can say that they played college football at a major Big Ten school and that even though there always were big time temptations; he NEVER EVER did something as selfish as taking money from boosters. There are countless meetings and coaches telling scholar athletes of these temptations and of the bad results. More importantly all players know that it will mean letting their teammates down and that's a cardinal sin amongst players. In the locker rooms they will sometimes be shut out by some players(at least for awhile) and deservingly so. No biggs, I respect your opinion but not all scholar athletes are as shallow and self serving as to take money and let their teammates(and the fans) down. It's been going on for many many years and in every locker room but teammates and especially coaches cannot always tell who's "on the take". Yes all kids make stupid stupid mistakes and Troy shouldn't be totally vilified but he does deserve any and all knocks he gets because most of all he let his teammates down and secondly even though he is still young ... he should of known better. Youth is not an excuse to be washed over to justify all matters, especially this subject. This is something that goes beyond that and is a major major sin for a teammate/player. He let his fans and school down but most of all he let his teammates, who depended on him, down and thats unnacceptable.

As for that booster ... lowest form of scum there is out there. They do nothing good for the name and reputation of Ohio State. They know nothing of what it really means to be a part of the Buckeye family.

p.s. biggs, I am not bashing you in any ways. Just disagreeing with your view on this one topic.
