QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Re: The pressure won’t affect Smith, or at least it shouldn’t. He has handled pressure from the time he arrived at Ohio State, from the time he won the Heisman, given to the NCAA’s top player, in 2006. He knows how to deal with it.

Yeah, I think he can handle the pressure; but it is a different kind of pressure. If Troy failed on the football field at Ohio State, he would still have his scholarship and could graduate. Now if he fails in the CFL (which may be Troy's last shot at professional football) and he is unemployed. In which case he might have "the horror"

of having to look for a job in the "real world", i.e. outside of professional football.

I see the Alouettes are up 16-0 on the TiCats nearing the end of the 1st half? Anyone watching? How's Troy look?

Also notice Alouettes have two RZ turnovers today (neither by Troy), so this could be a 30-0 halftime laugher.

Troy Smith's late TD pass rallies Alouettes past Argos
QB connects with Arland Bruce with 2:47 remaining

In Arland Bruce III's mind, there's no such thing as a bad win.

Bruce's 37-yard TD catch with 2:47 remaining rallied the Montreal Alouettes to a 23-20 win over a short-handed Toronto Argonauts squad Friday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.

"Any time you can go home at night and know you've won as a pro athlete, it's a great feeling," Bruce said. "If we had been sitting here saying it didn't mean anything, that's a co pout and I don't think any of these guys are looking for a way out.

"I know I'm not and I don't want anyone around me thinking like that. This is a good win."

The game had no bearing on the East Division standings as Toronto (11-7) had cemented top spot to secure home-field advantage for the conference final Nov. 17. Montreal (8-10) was already assured of finishing third and will face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in semifinal action next weekend in Guelph, Ont.

It looks like the CFL's all time passing leader, Anthony Calvillo, is going to retire, so the job is Troy's to lose now. He can go a long way to securing it by performing well in the playoffs. Montreal takes on Hamilton next weekend in a first round game. The winner faces defending champion Toronto for the bid to the 101st Grey Cup championship.

FWIW, Troy was Montreal's 2nd choice....

Vince Young balked at two-year deal with Montreal Alouettes

Former Titans starting quarterback Vince Young remains hopeful of resuming his NFL career and came close to playing professional football this season. Montreal holds his Canadian playing rights and the team had negotiated a contract with Young when it became thin at the quarterback position, according to a source with knowledge of the sitation.

However, the team insisted on a two-year contract, wanting Young to solve it's quarterback problem beyond this season, while Young would only agree to a deal for the remainder of the 2013 season. Talks broke down and Montreal ended up signing former Ravens backup Troy Smith to fill its void.

He's always been such a smart kid, just a great decision maker. I'm really surprised by the poor judgement here.
