QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

If Troy does go to the Browns it'll be with the 2nd round pick, if they have one, but they have sooooo many more pressing needs.

I agree that they have a lot of needs, but as I have stated on other parts of this forum, I think Troy could bring a lot to the Browns besides his athleticism, and talent as a football player. He could bring out the fans to just see him play, his is a local guy who loves Cleveland, and has his roots here. Much like LeBron and what he has done for the Cavs. Now, LeBron is a once in a lifetime talent, that we were lucky enough that he was also a local kid, but Troy could definitely give the Browns fans something to support and get behind as this team continues to try to find itself. He could be so much of a difference maker with his leadership and talent. He is exactly what this team needs.

the browns don't need him.
why do you want to punish him?

The play in the game today when he had a ball batted down doesn't help his cause... the knock is his height. His arm, knowledge, legs, leadership, winning, etc. are all known... My guess is second round (too much talent to slip to the third, the height question will imo knock him out of the first round)... I hope he lights things up in the senior bowl and during pro workouts...

Troy Smith won't go before the 3rd round.

and that really isn't a reflection of tonight, but tonight will just work to solidify the doubts people already had about him.

That's sad, I think he can be a very good NFL QB.

It's tough to know. He played against a better defense than he has ever seen. He was hurried nearly every play and as a result made several poor decisions. Add to that he had tipped balls and incompletions that were thrown under lineman's arms and I think he'll be cast in a different light.

I was thinking going into tonight's game that if Troy had a Vince Young type of championship showing, he'd go first round. But like BuckeyeMike pointed out, the naysayers are going to use this as their ammunition to push Troy way down the draft chart. That said, hopefully, he'll go to decent team who isn't desperate for a QB, but rather looking for someone to groom for the future. Troy's a winner and he's determined. IMO, he'll make it...just needs to wait it out for few years until he gets his chance at the pro game.

I really hate to state the obvious, but in "Pro" terms Troy probably cost himself the lottery sweepstakes tonight. If the Buckeyes win this game and he looks good, he's late 1st-mid 2nd round. Right now, no way he goes 1st day and may slide to the 6th or 7th.

I don't think I can sleep before I say this, but we have all seen a great career from Troy Smith. I just want to thank him for a great career at tOSU. 400+ yards agains ND, 3 wins in a row against tSUN ...

And who could forget...the only award that brings a trophy with a stiff-arm. Thank you for the memories, and good luck in all you will accomplish in the future.

:oh: :io:

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

GLENDALE, Ariz. ? Troy Smith?s dream season had a nightmare finish. If Ohio State?s 41-14 loss to Florida in the national championship game last night replays in the OSU quarterback?s mind for a while, it no doubt will include the ghoulish presence of the Florida defense, especially ends Jarvis Moss, Ray McDonald and Derrick Harvey.
