QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Why do we always have to compare a black QB (Smith) to a white QB (Brees?)

Most people would say it is wrong to compare only black qbs to other black qbs. Troy Smith might be similar to McNabb, but he is nothing like Vince Young or Michael Vick or Byron Leftwich.

Jeff Garcia playing well also can't hurt considering he's less athletic and talented than Troy.
Except that Philly might have considered Troy had Garcia struggled.

edit: I didn't realize Garcia was 36, quite old for his 8th year in the league. Didn't realize he logged half a decade for the Calgary Stampeders.

the one real comment i have though is not that long ago i went to a hockey game. went out with some folks i know afterwords. with a guy i kind of know he had a friend who worked for an unnamed (im not gonna give you his name or the team) nfl front office type guy. he wasnt a gm or director of player personel, but we briefly got on to it. and i asked him straight and blunt. he avoided the troy question, but commented to me that a handful of nfl clubs dont have the talent around the qb that troy has. said he thinks of the 95 team as comperable in the talent of some of the guys but sees the depth of the 02 team. he felt that 12 guys who see time on offense will see nfl minutes. take it or leave it as that nothing more nothing less...

So basically, the senior bowl will be very important in determining how high/low he goes.

I can't imagine them sticking with Grossman. He threw 3 more int's tonight.
Anything is possible even a Grossman who gets it turned around and wins the Sb.
If he does he isn't going anywhere and the bears won't draft a QB.
I don't think this is going to happen but hey! premature speculation is like premature ........ It doesn't mean anything in the long run
