QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

yes he the best we got but why all the fuss about him
:osu:

Your public profile bio says, "i have been a euipment MGR for akron springfeild HS for the last 17 football seasons", and you list our occupation as "broadcast eng TV production". If you've been involved with football for 17 years and work in TV broadcast production yet haven't seen Smith in action, something is definitely awry here...

Welcome to BP. That is quite a first post. Please see my PM to you.

There's a lot to get excited about with Troy Smith, like the final drive in the TSUN game this year. In their own right, his performances against TSUN would be enough to ensure a place in Ohio State football history.

In the Notre Dame game he outshined Heisman hopeful Brady Quinn dramatically.

Smith has shown the ability to combine the run and pass and to make things happen in the big game. I'd say that is plenty to make a fuss over wouldn't you?

There's a $$ article on Bucknuts with lots of quotes from TS...his approach to this season, his thoughts on the WRs, his attention to studying film and desire to constantly get better, but not get too caught up in all the hype.

Great read...really makes me root for Troy all the more and long for football season to be here already! :osu:

According to SI, Tory Smith comes in at #5 (of 21) on a list of the best players comming back for the 2006-07 season.

#5 Troy Smith

A poor man’s Vince Young … for now. Smith finished fourth in the nation in passing efficiency -- throwing for 2,282 yards and 16 touchdowns to just four interceptions -- and rushed for 611 yards and 11 touchdowns. Smith has a penchant for the big game, as evidenced by his combined stats the last two years against Michigan (541 yards passing with three touchdowns and 182 yards and two touchdowns on the ground) and his MVP performance in the Fiesta Bowl (342 yards passing and two touchdowns and another 82 yards on the ground).
