QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

You're a few hours late... try checking the Smith thread.
Sorry. I checked the last page of the Smith thread before posting and there was nothing there. Additionally, I thought such big news warranted its own thread to catch everyone's attention who just logged on, instead of having to keep checking the last page of the Smith thread.

I think the staff bumps his ass down to #2 QB--or lower--because of his poor decision making and lack of leading by example. Either Boeckman or Zwick (most likely Boeckman per "rumors") will now be the #1 QB, and not just during Smith's remaining one-game suspension.
I definitely think the leadership issue needs to be addressed by Troy. He has to show better judgment, and set an example. I'm glad he's been cleared of this latest matter, and hope he learns to ask questions before going off and doing something out of the ordinary, no matter how noble. There are just too many ways to stub one's toe with the NCAA.

I never thought he would start the Texas game after sitting out the Miami game due to suspension. I do, however, think he'll play against the Longhorns. Who starts the next game will most likely be dictated by who plays the best that night, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bucks use more than one QB all season. It could be Germaine/Jackson, all over again.

Unless the starting QB (Boeckman or Zwick) has problems, I would not expect to see Smith much, if at all, in the Texas game. And once Smith is back on decent terms with Tressel, I still seriously doubt we see a two-QB system. Tressel prefers one leader. This doesn't mean he won't try to get the backup(s) some playing time when feasible, but otherwise the starting QB will get the vast majority of snaps.

I can't whole heartly agree more. At what point does this kid stop messing up and learns from his mistakes? Yes, is just skipping class and everyone has done it,but it's against team rules. This is Troy's third offense breaking team rules and was still on probation from his last major, major offense when this occured. This shows very bad judgement and decision making on his part, and makes you question his leadership ability. I want a leader back there behind center, and up to this point Troy has not shown himself to be one.

amazing how they'll kiss ass with the Texas game two months away and them wanting to fo Game Day at the Shoe
agreed... i've been expecting that kind of shift for a while. Either way its notable as we watch the shift in their atittude towards us. They could start by continuing to pimp Matta's success in a positive light, especially after he lands Morgan (fingers crossed).

FINALLY...the NCAA keeps it's mouth shut!

To me this was a non-issue all the way from the beginning (unless) TS received compensation of course! But that wasn't the issue...it was this missed classed/received permission BS! I'm not going to reiterate what I posted when the story first broke but I basically stated that this issue was "petty" and that the NCAA needs to get a reality check (all out for themselves $$$). I would have done the same exact thing Troy did without thinking twice. The NCAA BS Bylaws are too many for anyone person to know, especially an athlete (it took six weeks for them to figure this out!). Also, everyone who dogged TS I already slammed you, so I'll let you go this time ;-)

Now let's focus on training camp! Fuck Texas, their day will come!

Yeah, fuck it bro. If there are too many rules...........just don't bother to check all of them. Good philosophy.

No one dogged Troy ( for the most part), he's brought a lot of this on himself.
