QB Tathan Martell (transfer to Miami, transfer to UNLV)

God I hope he's better then that lol

Kyler was a Texas high school football legend. He started some games as a true frosh too. Way too early to start labeling him a bust.

But the similarities I see are they both were incredible winners with similar statures and styles of play. Baker isn't quite the runner Tate is, from what I've seen

I was watching Tate's ultimate highlight. And he reminds me of a young Johnny Football with a better arm. This dude is mobile, and is crazy accurate. I pulled up his stats for this year. Only 1 Int. ONE!!!! Who was the last number 1 QB that had that many Interceptions?

He's the kind of quarterback who will have a ton of "NO, NO, NO, NO, THROW IT AWAY .... WOW!" plays. But also, some "NO, NO, NO, NO, THROW IT AWAY .... so dumb" plays.

I'd say 41 TDs and 1 INT is pretty darn good...that has to be some sort of record for TD/INT ratio (.976) for a season. He had only 215 pass attempts, so he averaged a TD pass every five attempts...not completions, attempts. And keep in mind he did that against the best competition in the country. His only possible knock is that he lost seven fumbles this season.

The fumbles come from carrying the ball way too freely when scrambling. That will stop at Ohio State. That is some high school performance and some highlight reel. A rather exciting prospect, no?

The throws you get away within HS won't work against the best of college football. The billion dollar question is can our QB coach help Tate make the transition to major college QB. A lot of natural ability if it's directed in the right way.
Again, he was playing against the very top teams in the country...teams which will be sending players to top FBS schools.

When does he start for TOSU? Next year? Two years? If he is a finished product .. he won't make it . He still must improve is all Ian saying.
Every player we get must improve once they get to Ohio State...that's a given. My point is that the level of competition against which he played makes him "more ready" than he had been playing against Podunk teams. No one is predicting when he'll start or that he'll have a 41/1 TD/INT ratio at Ohio State, but he's one of the most prepared high school QBs we've gotten in a long, long time.
