Seems like a choke you over checkers type of young man. A guy from Scout said on Bruce Feldman's podcast that Martell was the most competitive player at the Elite 11 Camp and one of the 2 most competitive players he's seen there in the last 5 years (other one being Shea Patterson fwiw...)
God, that sounds REALLY familiar...The Player
Tate Martell is rated the No. 1 quarterback in the nation per Scout and the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the nation by 247Sports and Rivals. He has led his Bishop Gorman team to back-to-back national championships and a 30-0 total record as a starting quarterback.
As a sophomore Martell completed 124-of-200 passes (62.0%) for 2,537 yards with 40 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Last year as a junior he completed 133-of-237 passes (56.1%) with 32 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for a total of 1,037 yards and 14 touchdowns in his two seasons as a starter.
As a quarterback, it is easy to see how comfortable Martell is whether in the pocket or on the move outside of it. He is accurate from either venue, and dangerous from wherever he finds himself.
Yes, he is only 5-foot-11, but he is very quick and plenty fast enough to compensate. His toughness has never been a question, nor has his durability, as he has not missed a game as a starter the last two seasons.
As a runner, Martell can get to the corner and pick up first downs at the sticks, but he also has an incredible ability to keep plays alive behind the line of scrimmage. He is a calm play maker who appears to make players around him better.
Martell will play in the Army All-American Bowl in January and will also be participating in Nike's The Opening in Beaverton, Oregon next month. He was once committed to Washington and Texas A&M
But TP was also huge! Troy and Tate were on the shorter side and yet crazy accurateA picture of Troy but not TP? He was pretty solid dual threat too.
Ahh ok. Makes sense-me wrong. But TP was also huge! Troy and Tate were on the shorter side and yet crazy accurate
