QB Rob Schoenhoft (official thread)

I remember the days when people would be complaining that we couldnt recruit a top QB and now that it looks like we may get an Elite 11 QB this year, he's not the one some people want. If he does come to OSU that would give us 3 Elite 11 QB on roster next season, not bad for a team that doesn't throw the ball :wink2: .

Cinci,

He's not Pete's number one man... so it doesn't count :tongue2:

If he verbals on Thurs. That would be yet another big pickup for the bucks... we could use some depth at QB, and he could mature into a really good one (and he is the only other QB we have offered that still has us in the running :wink2: )...

I hope this kid comes to Columbus and lights up the Big Ten!!!

Hopefully this year Zwick will prove that JT does throw the ball and make all of the 5* qb's start giving OSU a longer look. I think JT does call enough passing plays to keep qb's happy but CK wasn't very accurate and liked to run too much for it to show. I look forward to having a pass first run if you absolutely have to qb.

exhawg: We averaged exactly 28 passes per game last year, which is not bad for college football's "Three yards and a cloud of dust" program. I think if CK had hit a few more of his open receivers, JT may have passed a tad more. Think about this, if we had throw just one more pass in each half, that would've been 30 passes per game. Tell any 5-star QB that your offense will throw 30 times a game and he'll definitely pay attention.

Is there a link to his upcomming schedule? id like to check out any future buckeyes if they come anywhere near my neck of the woods.

27,
Check out ohsaa.org to get all of the Ohio hs fb schedules. On the drop down box at the upper left, just click football and then pick a school. I just put in the name of a Buckeye recruits' school to see if they're playing anywhere home.

exhawg: I guess I focused on your opening statement "Hopefully this year Zwick will prove that JT does throw the ball". As for completing 20 of 30 passes per game (67%), we'll be in great shape regardless of which QB can do that!

My feelings all along have been that OSU passes the ball enough to compare to other teams, completing those passes and at times passing to the right wr or rb or te is a different story. OSU's offensive woes have been largely due to execution.

IMO we pass enough... the press likes to hype our backs so the thought is we don't pass enough. If the QB&WR's got a little more press then we might be considered a "passing school" like USC (I think Mili, did a comparison and we passed almost the same amount as USC... might have been on a % basis not actuall plays, I don't recall.... but yet they are a passing school and we are a running school...???)

Ask and ye shall recieve (provide the QB throws to you) 2003 season passing stats:

USC 274-442-9 (62%) 3791 yards, 39 TDs (34 pass attempts per game)
OSU 208-366-13 (57%) 2679 yards, 20 TDs (28 pass attempts per game)

They only threw 6 passes per game more.
