He does have 1 advantage at Syracuse that he wouldn't of had at Ohio State:

College football's easiest schedules for 2024 season, ranked

SYRACUSE ORANGE

2024 schedule: Ohio, Holy Cross, UConn, at Boston College, at Cal, at NC State, at Pitt, Georgia Tech, Miami, Stanford, Virginia Tech

Ranked opponents in 247Sports way-too-early top 25: 2

Why is first-year coach Fran Brown and the Orange getting more love than Syracuse possibly should be in way-too-early ACC rankings with a rebuild in order? For starters, the 2024 schedule sets up for success. The road trip to NC State and a bout with Miami inside the Carrier Dome are the only games against teams we expected to be ranked inside the preseason top 25 several months from now.

Give him a clean pocket and open receivers and he’ll be great.
Let‘s see him make progressions and/or move his feet.
I get the disappointment for Kyle last season… the problem is he had a freaking high bar set for him by Haskins, Fields and Stroud.

Of course he was disappointing when compared to those guys.

I will be absolutely rooting for Syracuse this year as a second hand team as I did for Burrow.

:slappy: Is that all it takes, a clean pocket and open receivers?

He was a 5* QB coming out of HS. He was a disappointment because of his own results.

He screwed OSU with the timing of his announcement. I'm absolutely not rooting for him

Rooting for him against Clemson and Miami otherwise won’t really think about Syracuse. Certainly do not see him as a Burrow or even Ewers “one that got away”. His timing was weak but his actions helped cleared the way for a wave of NIL $ that we believe will be a facelift for the program. This is college football of today. Trying to still find enjoyment with less purity and tradition.

Neither of those throws above looked great to me. The first was behind the receiver and the second high for no reason I can see. It is too bad this kid did not work out at Ohio State but, if the comments and demands supposedly uttered by his father are true, I sense that he will one day regret his father's influence on his choices.

Syracuse football coach Fran Brown used his first postgame press conference of the 2024 season to thank Ohio State coach Ryan Day for quarterback Kyle McCord's services.

In the 2024 opener against Ohio, Syracuse won 38-22. The Orange scored all of their 38 points from the second quarter on after trailing 6-0 in the first 15 minutes.

"Kyle's a good football player," Brown said. "You've seen it right there. I should send Ryan Day a bottle of champagne for allowing us to get him. It's really cool."

McCord had 354 passing yards, four touchdowns and an interception while completing 27 of his 39 pass attempts.

His passing yards, pass completions, pass attempts and passing touchdowns were each career highs.

McCord also added five rushing attempts for -1 yard.

continued

Just sayin': McCord transferring was a WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN.

1. Kyle McCord won, he got a fresh start at a new school that really appreciates him.
2. Syracuse won, they at a GENUINE QB1 that could end up being a pretty high NFL draft pick and (as long as he stays healthy) he'll start for Syracuse every game.
3. Ohio State won, they got rid of a QB that couldn't beat scUM (however, maybe he would have had scUM not cheated). They got a QB1 transfer that appears to be an upgrade over McCord. They (possibly) also got their QB1 for the future, i.e. a 5 star transfer (true freshman).
4. Will Howard won, he got to transfer to a team that will contend for the National Championship plus a really nice NIL deal.
