QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

He injured one on a QB sneak earlier in the year and then got folded up on a useless play in the 1st half against Minnesota?
Yeah the first one is just football being football and injuries happening. The Minnesota play was about the most moronic coaching move I have seen and was completely pointless, Kyle could have been out all year due to that. I was livid when that happened. That said, it seemed like he moved fine after that game, or at least as well as he seemed to before the mentioned injuries. He is a decent athlete running when he is decisive, but problem is that most of the times he was not. Maybe a new system will help him with that, but it the biggest thing he needs to work on.

I know his old man is too far on the spectrum of helicopter but he does have some legit gripes about the way they used his kid.

Bad Oline and some super questionable times they left him in there in games when he had a known injury. I'd be a little salty too if that was little Jax.

My sense is it was all that stuff, PLUS, Day couldn't assure them they wouldn't bring in a QB in the portal.

I think the people acting like the turnovers are the cause of this are being too reductive. The turnovers are obviously bad but in every game there were multiple plays where a receiver was running wide open and McCord either didn’t see him or just decided not to throw the ball for whatever reason. THAT’S why Day isn’t sticking with him.

You can live with turnovers or sailing some balls due to an injured ankle if the guy is at least properly identifying open receivers.

The stuff McCord was failing at is largely intuitive and if he doesn’t have it now after three years in the program, he’s not just suddenly going to develop it.

Constantly being late on balls early in the season can be excused as a timing issue and just getting used to your receivers moving in full speed with full contact defenders.

Doing it repeatedly in your 13th start, three years into the program is a problem that’s likely not going to be fixed by the extent it needs to in order to start at Ohio State.

This is going to suck if he goes to Happy Valley, which would make a lot of sense considering where he is from. The biggest thing holding those fuckers back has been the QB play and Kyle would jump right in there and be their best in a long damn time.

I like Kyle and I think he'll be in the league at some point I just hope it isn't at our expense that he ends up in awards talk too.

A majority of his life was spent in New Jersey.

Happy Valley isn't a big siren song for the NJ/Philly types. His old man played at Rutgers. NJ/Rutgers people HATE Penn State.

No idea where he'll go but I'd be surprised if it's Penn State. He would do well with Schiano at Rutgers but his old man seems to be thinking NFL development so who knows?

Does no one remember Tod Beckman. Guy got us to the Nation Championship game. Yes, it was behind a fucking monter Beanie Wells. The next year he goes full statue of liberty like 10 times against USC and Tressel went to a freshman Terrelle Pryor.

McCord isn't the fist player to be told he isn't good enough for OSU. Won't be the last either
Those were my years at OSU. My sophomore year was 1 vs 2 with Troy and the horror of the National Championship after Ginn got hurt.

I was at the USC game at the Shoe with my Dad..

The real question is do you remember Antonio Henton aka the next Troy...
