QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

Herbie said one intelligent albeit pretty obvious thing when answering why we only saw that OSU team once. They weren't angry any other time. Urban craves an angry team and had one all of last year, especially in the postseason. This year they were the favorite and no amount of posturing or motivating can change that role reversal. They could have handled things better but that primary obstacle would have remained.

After being humiliated on the field (relative to their status) and lambasted off the field, they could go back to a hungry, disrespected team that utilized its extreme talent.
Did anyone hear Herbie say on Mike & Mike that Ohio State may have lost because "those guys were tweeting more than they were practicing?"

Why would he ever say that? I don't get this guy.
All of them were big tweeters last year. In my anecdotal experience, Elliott, Bosa and others retweeted my stuff a lot more last year.

It's just comical how Frosty behaves as if he's got his finger on the pulse of Ohio State football. He knows people know he played here, and he just uses that knowledge to play off the assumption that he must, therefore, be connected to the program. I've never seen him at practice... don't hear him on the local radio... hell, he even moved out of town....

You want to hear someone with the pulse of the program, look no further than Speils. The guy has had some things to say on broadcasts of games on ESPN... and... I don't think I've ever disagreed with him. But then, he lives here, works here and I've seen... well.. heard.. of him attending practices.

The point was brought up by Golic that Dabo told his players no more social media beginning in August. Frankly, that probably wouldn't have been a bad idea given how much yapping some of our guys were doing and the fact it does nothing to help you. Did it make a difference? Who knows? But it was obvious this team - like a lot of teams - played better as an underdog than as a favorite. There wasn't anything else to it and he didn't just randomly throw it out there.

But this place lost its collective mind on Herbstreit a long time ago. Everything he says is wrong, everything he says is anti-Ohio State, butthurt must be found in every word. Have fun with that. :horse:

The guy gets in embarrassing twitter slapfights, including with buckeye student athletes. He's the last person who gets to pass judgment on twitter conduct.

But hey, he forms words nicely (even if they're surface level cliches most of the time), so we're supposed to listen to him.

Social media does nothing to help you, as a football player...but how does it hurt you? Which is what he implied. He was quoted as saying the team was tweeting more than practicing? You don't see the absurdity in that? He said he doesn't see Nick Saban's players having social media problems. But Cyrus Jones just got into a twitter spat with Mike Thomas two days ago.

What does being on social media have to do with being an underdog or a favorite? And players on the team tweeted more last year than they did this year. I'm not one who jumps on everything Herbie says, but this was straight up stupid.

Right....it's not his fault he says things that are wrong and anti-Ohio State, it's ours for noticing them.

Lots of people have opinions that we disagree with. Some of them are professional trolls, like Travis or cowherd. Others are emotional and fly off the handle occasionally.

Also, this team did just as much tweeting last year if not more. No difference in tweeting would make them an underdog. That's what changed.
