Herbstreit: you are a fucking idiot. You are certainly not a genius, you got that one right. Oregon may not be "soft", I don't believe they are. Going 12-1 or whatever and making it to the title game doesn't happen to "soft" teams. But OSU out-muscled them, out-worked them and out-hustled them. Speed was even at best. So, when do we get credit from you? When do we stop being reminded of 2006-2007 and TatGate? You know, this same exact thing happened in the Rose Bowl - OSU bitch-slapped Oregon. That had as much effect on this game as 2006-2007 did. Did you bring that up? Hmmm.

All true. I think the fact that the Buckeyes manhandled Bama at the point of attack pretty much proves that a team doesn't need to be "soft" for us to beat them up. We clearly have more team speed than either Orygun or Bama.

None of which really affects how you feel about Herpstreak.

I suppose we should just consider ourselves fortunate he was well rested and managed not to drop us in the ratings after a bowl victory.

We (Colerain) scrimmaged Centerville in August of 1987. I played DT. First drive of the game the Elks are moving the ball with their option attack. Inside our red zone the guard must have gone the wrong way because I never came so free. I got leg whipped by the guard and fell. Got a small piece of Herbies ankle. Just enough to slow him up for our mike to knock him the fuck out. Like literally out cold in a puddle of snot and drool.


What I wouldn't give to be a part of that play again.

This recent thread is an example of why I don't think the hate some tOSU fans have for Herbstreit is legitimate. Yeah, he said Oregon dominated Florida State. Oregon won the game by 40 points. What's he supposed to say? Oregon is a soft finesse team that was lucky to win? That would have been ridiculous.

Oregon wasn't a soft team. They got beat up by the best team in the country in the title game. That doesn't make them soft or a bad team.

I will also add for fun that Herbstreit's dad and my dad grew up together. And my dad's best friend to this day hates Jim Herbstreit for stealing his girlfriend when they were young.

He dropped OSU in his AP poll votes after winning the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas.

Let's just say I hate him for that alone.

How is that not legitimate?
