If you go back and rewatch the ending celebrations after the game is over, you can hear Herbstreit sniffling in the background, and Fowler has to take over the duties of commentator for a solid 10 mins or so. Maybe Kirk indeed does care about the buckeyes lol

I think this is dead on, but it hasn't stopped him from continuing to put foot in mouth either - though not quite to the extent that he did when Tressel was here.

Still, even if his problem is really Tressel... why go out of your way to bash the whole program over his personal spat? He, and his defenders (and I was in this boat for awhile), often claim he's just trying to be professional and unbiased... yet he regularly airs his dirty laundry in the most unprofessional ways. On his ESPN soapbox, on his twitter account, etc.
I know you're not making this argument - but the "unbiased professional" schtick doesn't hold water when he repeatedly acts like a child on national television.
