Herbie isn't doing one thing different than any of you would if you had his 6 figure job so stuff it.

"Get ready for Maurice Clarett the sequel." -Kirk Herbstreit, espn radio.
Someone want to step up and defend that gem from a few months ago? They got their phone calls, so it was a win-win for the radio station. Exactly. I commend him on securing and maintaining a tremendous job and opportunity, and part of that could be being asked to wear lots of contradictory hats for the sake of ratings.
But I'm still going to call a spade a spade.

There is (or was) a lot of fear regarding whether the Pryor saga would turn into something like the Clarett saga. I don't think Herbie was trying to compare Pryor to Clarett, I think he was trying to compare the media coverage and potential for circus acts that would come with Pryor.

and I have little doubt that he views most of the OSU faithful in Columbus as yokels

Yeah, if they changed the definition of "blue collar" to what "pretty boy prima donna" used to mean.

Herbie was one hell of a tough QB in HS. He could take (and deliver) a hit better than any other signal called I played against in HS or college.
Jaxbuck;1236149; said:As with about 99.9% of the posters here, I never played against him in HS or college. I'm referring strictly to his "look" and style. He's a pretty boy.
My main issue with him started with the picture he took decked out in [censored] and blue, yucking it up with the scUM band. There is simply no need for that. None.
His willingness to slob any knob his ESPN handlers tell him to, I find just simply revolting. The over the top hyperbole fest of the past few years has been the icing on the cake.
Too many other guys find the balance between their analyst/commentator job and their alumn status for me to buy the "impossible task" excuse.

Someone want to step up and defend that gem from a few months ago? /QUOTE]
Well, I guess it depends on the context of the statement. What did he say after that statement? Was he comparing Pryor to Mo C as a trouble maker and 'crooked' like your quote seems to imply ?
