Hey Kirk Herbstreit: ya burnt.

The “College GameDay” analyst and former Ohio State quarterback was ripped by Western Carolina head coach Mark Speir after his Catamounts lost to Alabama, 48-14.

Talking about how the SEC schedules FCS opponents this late in the season on “GameDay” on Saturday, Herbstreit called it the “worst thing that goes on in college football.” Lee Corso did point out that these games give SEC teams a necessary breather while benefitting the FCS schools financially, for which Speir was understanding. But he really did not appreciate what Herbstreit had to say.

“A guy had a silver spoon in his mouth all his life, Ohio State, primadonna state quarterback talking about, ‘It’s an embarrassment,’” Speir told AL.com. “He ain’t ever coached.”

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Western Carolina head coach Mark Speir was angered when he watched a segment on ESPN's College GameDay Saturday morning where the hosts were down on SEC teams playing FCS opponents this weekend.

Alabama was one of four SEC schools playing an FCS opponent this weekend, and South Carolina played South Alabama from the Sun Belt.

Smaller schools get several hundred thousand dollars, sometimes even more than a million dollars, from the power schools. Alabama paid WCU $480,000 for coming to Tuscaloosa. Speir said earlier this week on the Southern Conference coaches teleconference that playing Alabama basically funds their athletic department.

The ESPN analysts called it "embarrassing" and Kirk Herbstreit, a former Ohio State quarterback, said it was the worst thing happening in college football today.

making fun of Herbie is awesome.....but this guy's a fucking moron. you don't need to have coached to know that playing FCS teams for week 11 is some bull shit. and since when does somebody need to coach to know football? being a captain QB at Ohio State isn't enough? you need to coach some shit 1AA school to really prove what you know?

Apparently you ain't either, coach...unless you consider a 10-25 record at FCS powerhouse Western Carolina as "coaching". Fucking moron. Alabama scheduled your sorry ass team after they saw your 1-10, 1-10, and 2-10 records over the past three years and tried to pass it off as a valid late-season game...you were essentially the worst team in all of Division I.

I get pissed off when the idea is that if somebody dumps on Herbstreit, they're a hero.

Herbstreit is a Buckeye. I see no reason to cheer about some chump dumping on him for a dunderhead reason. Do I care about Western Carolina? No. And their coach is a chucklehead. Don't care who disagrees with me.

With one exception, who exactly considers this guy a hero? There appears to be plenty of sentiment on this forum that the WC coach is a doofus.
