Too soon old, too late smart
Just like Herbie did. He wasn't a Buckeye 'homer', and at times seems to be anti-Buckeye, but that is because he HAS to project neutrality. And his stage (ESPiN GameDay) is the largest stage of all. The guys at the lower level can joke about 'my guys' at Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, or wherever, but they will NOT make it to the 'show' unless they can project neutrality and professionalism.
Even though Herbie left C'bus, because the Buckeye Nation criticized him for not being more 'pro-Buckeye' he did what he had to for his career. Understood, and I'd be surprised that if in private he doesn't bleed scarlet & gray. The above comments show that these guys are as far up the totem pole as they're going to get. 'Course they're not Buckeye-bred announcers.........like Spielman, R. Smith, Clark Kellogg, etc etc etc.
