QB Kenny "the old righty" Guiton (WR Coach Wisconsin)

Kenny Guiton Becoming Quarterback OSU Needs Him to Be
By Tony Gerdeman

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Last year when the Buckeyes broke summer camp in preparation for the season, the talk at quarterback surrounded Joe Bauserman and freshman Braxton Miller.

Bauserman took the starter's reps, and Miller, Kenny Guiton and Taylor Graham split the rest. Gradually, however, Miller was given more reps throughout camp because it was clear that the coaching staff wanted to use him on the field.

At the time, Guiton said the right things, adding that he never felt disrespected by the talk of everyone but him.

"I haven't done anything for everybody to think that Kenny Guiton should be all this and that," he said back in August.

"But I do feed off of it. It motivates me to know that people aren't saying your name. You don't have anything to lose. They're not expecting anything out of you anyway, so I just go out there and play every day.

"It's hard. But at the same time you've got to show the coaches that you can handle that adversity and persevere."

I still contend that we win the Nebraska game last year if Kenny goes in instead of Bauserman.

I second that. I remember listening to the radio broadcast with the TV on mute and hearing he was warming up..and I thought..hell yeah it's about damn time..and then well we all know what happened after that.

KG looked very good and looks worlds ahead of where he was last season...good to see that even though he is not the #1 he is still working hard to improve and still keeping his head into it...

I really think we are in great shape. Both have improved immensely.

I breathed an immense sigh of relief. When Miller is hurt, tOSU can win with Kenny.

And I had to check it, but the very best news ... I believe Kenny is going into his RS Junior season, so we do not fall off a cliff at the end of the season.

It is hard to remember back several years, but I seem to remember a lot of spring games when the passing stats were down in the low 50s, not in the 70s. Wow. And the defense knew the ball was going to be passed!

UFM will get Kenny throwing on time. That is fixable.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Kenny G looked awesome every spring game we've played.

I would disagree with that.
What he looked was not good enough to beat out Bauserman. Kenny did show flashes of ability to "run" the read option but was never used that way. Maybe he just needed time and more coaching?

I have liked Kenny since he signed. He seems like appreciates the opportunity he has playing QB for The Ohio State University. I want to see what he does in the backup role especially during the second halves against MAC teams when he will get more playing time than he was used to before. I think he is a great back up QB for this system.

Maybe a slight attitude adjustment? I have a feeling Kenny will be growing and pushing hard this summer. Braxton probably isn't in any real danger but I'd imagine the competition will be closer to him than he's ever experienced. Hopefully it make both of them better.

Oh don't take my post that to mean that there's no chance he could become awesome.

Just meant, we got excited last spring game and then he couldn't perform at the same level during the season. Yes more coaching will always help, and I hope he becomes a very threatening backup to opposing defenses. Would love to see him come out and do well.

i didn't see it written but thought KG should get some props.

Urban had some positive comments about KG's turnaround. He is now part of Urban's leadership team and has improved his on field performance.

Urban says it allows him to be more aggressive because he now feels he has two QB's he can count on.

I wonder if this means we will have more of a 2 quarterback system. With KG getting situational play. UFM did win the national champ. with a dual Qb system so he could make it work.
