QB Kenny "the old righty" Guiton (WR Coach Wisconsin)

At this point I just really hope Bauserman doesn't play again at home.. He will get booed so badly if he see's the field. It'd just be horrible all the way around because that's certainly not classy.

Guiton has to get a shot. It has got to be Braxton and Guiton from here on out. Guiton isn't nearly as mobile as many of us posters think though, but he is atleast more like Braxton.

My biggest concern about KG is his arm strength and size. He is still small framed and his ball certainly doesn`t come out like Millers....although he does seem to throw an accurate tight spiral. Hope he gets his shot and makes the most of it. KG would do much better running plays from shotgun like BM. Go Bucks:oh:

I don't know...he was throwing some bullets in the spring game.

And then who will we have if Braxton is still hurt and Bauserman goes down? Think before you post...
My main point was as advice to Kenny and Taylor. As a Buckeye fan, we would be in a mess if Brax and Baus go down AND they had transferred. My ultimate point lies in that, if Kenny and Taylor can't get a fair shot as the back-up despite a pile of evidence that Joe cannot cut it then they deserve a better chance to play and possibly start elsewhere. There just isn't a point to NOT playing another back-up QB when compared with Joe. If Kenny and/or Taylor aren't as good, then you put Joe back in there. At the least I can say that Joe is being a man about the situation.

Joe is gone after this season. They not only have the opportunity to be the back-up next season, one of them could play his way into the starting job.

I don't care if it is a tight spiral so long as it comes down somewhere on the field of play.

If he can run bring him on.

KennyG taking snaps with the 1s

Kenny could be moved to backup role

Comforting, but what would convince me that something close to reality has set in would be if KG was named back-up and was getting ALL of the back-up snaps.

I hope Braxton can go the whole game, but if he can't, it has to be KG, doesn't it?

You can't compare him with Miller. Miller is and will be the starter as long as he is not hurt. You have to compare him with Bauserman for the backup spot. I would like to see Kenny get more time under center. We are going to need a good backup next year as well.

Ohio State spotlight: QB Kenny Guiton
By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Friday October 14, 2011

Most of the time a quarterback controversy involves who should be No.1. But at Ohio State this week during preparations for today?s game at unbeaten Illinois, it was all about who should be the No.1 backup.

The consensus among the fans was it should be sophomore Kenny Guiton. They have grown tired of senior Joe Bauserman?s throw-it-to-the-seats show, climaxed by that dreadful 1 of 10 passing performance during the Buckeyes?s fourth-quarter implosion in the 34-27 loss at Nebraska last week.

No one knows really how good Guiton might be as the backup to Braxton Miller, whose sprained ankle caused him to leave that game in the middle of the third quarter with the Buckeyes up 27-13. But there were two thoughts that reinforced the idea Guiton deserved a chance:

1) Could he be any worse than Bauserman has been since the efficient season-opening win over Akron?

2) With the ability to throw and run, Guiton is the best facsimile the Buckeyes have to Miller in the sense of trying to run most of the same plays.

Plus, with Guiton there is a clean sheet of paper. He appeared in only five games last year in a mop-up role, throwing just two passes, completing one and having one intercepted. He has not played at quarterback this year.

Bauserman, who lost the starting job to Miller beginning with game three, is 40 of 86 passing, with one interception. And remember, he was 12 of 16, including for three touchdowns, in the season opener.

?Kenny will get some more reps ? and he'll get probably more and more opportunities in the weeks to come,? coach Luke Fickell said.

It was an indication that a change was in the works, though the backup quarterbacks teammates were trying to steer clear of the conundrum.

?I?m sure the coaches will make a good decision on who should be second string and all that business,? center Michael Brewster said.
