I have no idea what this is, but it makes me laugh every single time.

KG is lucky he gets to skip the interning step. Pretty similar but without getting paid. 60ish hour work weeks with no pay. All for the love of football, trust me I would know.

Making 30k for being a GA sounds awesome .

I believe it's 24k + classes, only Mehringer and Fleming get that, the rest are interns. And Mehringer is on his third school and seventh season under Herman. Not an easy life by any means, but got to start somewhere. Wish I had the foresight to try as an undergrad, even without getting paid.

If you don't like that kid, there's something severely wrong with you. Can't wait to see what's in store for him on his Senior day. No doubt The Shoe will be going nuts chanting....KENNY G!!!! KENNY G!!!! KENNY G!!!! KENNY G!!!!
I can't wait to see what happens here, should be a pretty special moment. Especially for a career backup, how many guys can you say that about?

I'd love to see him as a GA next year, though I'd certainly be rooting for him to succeed in the league if that's his plan.

Kenny Guiton is going to be a coach, and he’s going to be a good one. Urban Meyer said last week that the Ohio State backup quarterback needs to raise his GPA in order to be a graduate assistant next season, and it’s clear that Meyer wants him around. On a recent conference call, Mel Kiper Jr. floated the idea of Guiton getting an NFL look as a backup quarterback, and I think he’ll be in someone’s camp as a free agent. Former USC backup Matt Cassel made a career in the NFL after never starting in college, so now everyone thinks college backups can step into the pros. Guiton was a two-time Big Ten player of the week this season, so no offense to what Guiton has done, but I don’t see it at the next level. With smarts and hard work, he maximized everything he had to play well at this level, but I don’t think he’s a pro guy. I do think he’s a coach.
“Hopefully, I hope so,” Guiton said when I asked him this week if he’d be coaching a year from now. “I have told the coaches I want to do the coaching thing, so I hope so.”

And he hopes it’s at Ohio State.

“I need like point one,” Guiton said of his GPA. “I’ve got to do something.”

There are plenty of good reasons to think offensive coordinator Tom Herman will be moving along to a head coaching job sooner than later, so maybe Guiton can position himself to step in as a mid-20s guy running an offense.

“I hope so. That would be fun,” Guiton said.

That, obviously, is a stretch. But seeing a guy that coaches have called the most selfless player and one of the best teammates they have ever seen succeeding as a college coach? That makes perfect sense.

Guiton's OSU career nearly didn't happen

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Pick a sample size, change the pool of voters, it hardly makes a difference to an approval rating that might as well be a unanimous endorsement.

Limit it to teammates, and the votes poured in to make Kenny Guiton a captain at Ohio State.

AP Photo/Jay LaPreteKenny Guiton is loved by the fans and respected by his teammates. Not bad for a backup QB.
Expand it to one of the largest stadiums in college football, and the fans that pack the Horseshoe have made their feelings well known by chanting the senior’s name.

Even across the country, a brief stint in the spotlight in September earned him recognition as the national player of the week and turned him into a household name.

That near universal admiration is rare enough for anybody, let alone a backup quarterback.

But Ohio State's has become a cult hero. And as he takes in the appreciation for what he’s accomplished for the last time on Saturday at Ohio Stadium, he will do so knowing just how easily he could have missed out on it entirely.

The accidental Buckeye

Tom Herman wasn’t the only recruiter who had taken an interest in the quarterback from Houston, but he was in the same boat as the rest of the small handful of coaches seeking Guiton's services back in 2008.

Then an assistant at Rice, Herman saw the multipurpose potential Guiton brought to the position. There was an accurate, but not overpowering, arm capable of leading a passing attack. Mobility, but perhaps not game-changing acceleration, which could extend plays and pose a threat as a rusher.

But Guiton wasn’t the kind of recruit worth waiting around forever for, and ultimately Rice had to move on and take another quarterback.

“Kenny had kind of put off his decision, kept waiting and waiting,” Herman said. “At that time we felt like we had to fish or cut bait.

“I think that’s why it didn’t work out for a lot of different places that he originally had offers to.”
