QB Kenny "the old righty" Guiton (WR Coach Wisconsin)

This kid is great on the field and off and could be starting for half the BCS schools in the country. It says a lot about his character and perspective and love of Ohio State that he didn't transfer out just because of football.

Kids like him are why--despite the deluge of Manziels and illiterates and thugs and rapists that blacken the sport--I can never truly give up on college football.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kenny doesn't rank higher in NFL eyes than Braxton due the difference between NFL and the college game - Braxton's biggest asset is his running ability, and while Kenny certainly demonstrated an ability to run, he has to rely much more on his passing.

I see absolutely zero NFL potential in Kenny, but that means nothing when it comes to his value to the 2013 Buckeyes. He is a mensch.

Also, I'm no scout. Take my opinions for what they're worth -- not very much.

I'd agree in general, though not so much because of his passing game as much as how well he seems to be able to read the defense. His option decisions and timing are straight up deadly, and I don't think I've seen him misread it once last season or yesterday. He always seems to make the right decisions, and just needs a bit more touch in his passing (the long throw that ended with an INT for example).

Kenny did an awesome job Saturday over all. He ran the offense confidently. The only issue I had with Kenny was in the number of low passes he throws. He was good at hitting his receivers, but often the pass was at knee level or lower which can take away from a recivers ability to get yards after catch. If Kenny gets his passes up a little bit, our offensive output with him in could be scary, because he is very efficient at running the offense. I love his timing and accuracy pitching the ball on option plays. Kudos Kenny!

Was in C-deck so maybe I am way off base.. to me, Guiton ran the option better than Braxton, but Kenny G can't push the ball down field like Braxton can. Seemed like the deep ball was under thrown and the passing game isn't there (play calling wise) when Kenny is in.

Yep, the one deep ball could have been a TD with some air under it. Hadn't thought of that aspect, perhaps because I was so glad to see Kenny get a chance to show what he could do with a full game to control.

It is amusing to look at some of these QB situations in places like Oakland and Jacksonville and wonder how Blaine Gabbert can be an NFL starter while Troy Smith is in the CFL. Even Todd Boeckman could do better at some of these places, at least as a viable #2 or #3 on the depth chart.

As for whether Guiton is an NFL prospect, I'd be inclined to think no. He's looked fantastic at getting the team into the right plays and maximizing the offense minus Braxton's wheels, but as a pure passer his arm strength is questionable, both in terms of placement/distance on deep throws and zip on short throws, and his accuracy on short routes can be erratic. I haven't charted every pass he's thrown, but it seems to me a lot of his throws are low/short. He is completing the passes but not giving the receivers great opportunities for yards after the catch. In the NFL that could get a receiving corp killed.

There's no shame in skipping the NFL to come back to Ohio State as a graduate assistant under Urban Meyer though -- get started on that coaching career, Kenny.
