QB Justin Zwick (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Zwick constantly missed open passes, I don't remember a game where he didn't have a number of balls he should have made.

I don't remember TS making too many bad throws, and if he did they weren't on crucial big plays. He didn't miss the bombs or the much needed 3rd down conversions.

And the guy flipping had tons of yards passing and 150 yards with his feet.

THE GAME is what matters at OSU. If you can perform in that game, you have solidified your spot. It is his to lose. Zwick is good and if Smith can't get it done for the first 3-4 games, expect to see Zwick. But Zwick can't offer the mobility options Smith can. Most of the big passes by Smith (the first bomb, the roll out 3rd down conversions, the SCRAMBLING when the pass wasn't there!) was becasue Smith was agile. I can't imagine OSU playing as fired up with Zwick in there. That has been the case all season, even in a losing effor vs. purdue.

Smith probably could have had even better stats, but the Buckeyes had no need to throw the ball in the 4th quarter, so they didn't. Zwick has his chance this year, but blew it, whereas Smith has stepped up and grabbed the bull by the horns. I don't want to see Zwick transfer, but unless something bad happens next year, Smith is the man for the next two years.

Smith has had one good game. Ginn beat MSU, not Smith. Indiani beat themselves. Smith played well yesterday, but don't discount how much better our line played yesterday. There was very little pressure as compared to earlier in the season.

Look, I hope Smith keeps it up, but I have this feeling that he just won't. If he does and we go undefeated next year then great, but I still feel that Zwick is the better QB (one game does not make a QB).

You guys are acting like TS has dominated for the whole season. It was one game, lets see if he can continue playing like that to grant him a saint.

True, but this game was against one of the better teams in the country and almost everything he did was correct. He showed that without any doubt he can be a leader and a winner.
I had little faith in this kid and now I'm sold on hid ability to lead this team to another national championship.
He only played one year of QB in high school and he is going to get better and better as he gets more comfortable and gains confidence.
He will be the Buckeye QB for the next couple of years. I'm very confident of that. I'm very excited now. He is going to be a weapon that defenses will have a difficult time preparing for.

OK, my tongue is in my cheek on this one - but somebody needed to start this thread...So no, I don't really see Justing moving on and I am not trying to start a rumor. Just a comment on the fickel foturnes of college athletics.

Uh, no, this thread really didn't need to be started...

I think Smith was a key part of the win yesterday, but the team in it's entirty began to gel as it should. The "D" played up to expectation and the offense started to put points up. Smith was the catalyst, but I think OSU is in a good situation now with Boeckman able to play next year they'll have 3 top caliber QB's in the stable. Buckeyes began to reload yesterday, next season could be dangerious for the rest of the Big Ten if they can now build on it.

I will give Troy Smith his due... He was fabulous... but I wouldn't forget about Justin Zwick... his time off could be a blessing in disguise for him...

Troy's skills matched up VERY well against scUMs defensive deficiencies...

I still forecast a very interesting spring... and summer... I believe it's still a toss up for starting QB in 2005... could be decided by the offensive coords philosophy...

There is no way TS doesn't start the 2005 season as the No.1 QB.
This kid just had a 390 yard game vs. our 7th ranked arch enemy.
His performance will go down as one of the greatest performances in the history of this famous game.
To say he didn't solidify his position as the No.1 Qb is simply crazy.
Even the scUM posters are lamenting over the fact that they will have to face Smith over the next two years.
The kid is dangerous. He has every skill needed to be a great QB and he showed it yesterday. All he needs is experience.
Zwick will never see the field again unless TS is injured.
Smith will not play himself out of the No.1 spot. He showed too much talent for that to happen.
