QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

It's not even wide receiver they need lots of help on O basically every position but QB, RB and maybe TE. They traded their 2nd round pick for Chase Claypool. So yeah.. if they go D their first 2 picks you're looking at 4th round

I agree, I'm not sure if we're debating here? The only guy that makes sense at 1 is Will Anderson. That's all I was saying. If they trade out, I think they should snag one of the top WRs, but yeah they're awful and need pretty much everything.

One last note.
Seen many a mock with Jalen Carter going anywhere from 1 to 4 in rd 1.

I was wildly unimpressed with him in our game and a couple other games I recall.
I’ve never seen a guy who looks so fit get gassed so easily.
He was basically worthless v us anytime we went tempo.
I have seen the flip side of him wrecking plays.
But I’d be leery of taking a guy so high that can’t be on the field so often.
Not sure if it’s conditioning (he looks fit) or motor. Neither is good.

Agree 100%…..was in rough playing shape for one of biggest games of career.

Curious to see how he looks tonight.

Gotta believe that is just click bait bull sh&t.

At best it is front office trying to drum up demand for the #1 pick.

Young and CJ aren't in the same galaxy in terms of prospect as a Trevor Lawrence or Andrew Luck were.

I don't think this is a very good QB class. When Will levis is projected in the top 10 you know it's bad.

The only possible explanation in my mind would be if the FO made a determination that Justin's style isn't sustainable in terms of avoiding injury.

Jesus I thought we were all joking. They are legit talking about trading him and drafting Bryce Young on a couple sites. That would be horrendous for the Bears but maybe great for Justin
The GM wasn’t overly glowing about Justin’s passing in the press conference yesterday. Everyone says well he doesn’t have an OL or receivers in one breath and then talk about his less than stellar passing stats in the next breath.

Funny thing is, it's a combination of all of those things mentioned.

The OL is hot garbage.
The skill players are questionable at best.
There are multiple instances in every game where Justin has had both the time and route combinations but fails to deliver.

The inability for people to seemingly grasp that the team requires a serious upgrade in the trenches and the skill positions while Justin needs to grow as a passer is mind numbing. But the Bears organization will never see any chance for great development should they not get their young QB some help, beyond just being a run heavy team.

Case in point; he didn't seem to suck too badly at throwing when he had Olave and Wilson to throw to.

It’s a catch 22…

Chicago wanted Fields to be more of a pocket QB that sparingly relied on his mobility to escape pressure.

But as has been pointed out, it’s hard to tell if he can do that or not because the weapons are so sparse and the O-line sucked.

That said, Fields didn’t start thriving and become an offensive machine until they actively worked his athleticism into the gameplan.

So, I think it’s still fair to question how successful he can be in NFL….if he doesn’t ever learn how to succeed within the pocket it’s fair to wonder how healthy he can stay.

He’s so much fun to watch but you’re constantly holding your breath as he rips long runs. It’s not that dissimilar from Trey Lance and the Niners.
