No, I don't think anyone will question getting Fields. I was saying how he handled Tate if Fields isn't ready or Fields doesn't come out lighting it up and Tate does on another team.

still, what could he have done differently with Martell?
Tate is going to react however he is going to react.
Day's job is to assemble the talent to give OSU the best chance to win. If doing that makes a guy want to transfer out then what are you going to do? Pass on Fields?

That list is interesting. I would counter that the overwhelming majority were really good college QBs. I could care less how they do in the Pros

We don't have clue how he's handled Tathan Martell. It would appear that Martell has been the one handling the situation and that he hasn't handled it very well. It would appear that Justin Fields has handled the situation very well judging by his silence. Tate could learn a lesson from him.

Mostly just the same thought I had after watching season 1, which is that I'm extremely happy that I don't have a job where my success is dependent on 17-year olds.

My further point with the list is alot of people throw out there that Fields is a generational talent which he might be but I won't take that from the 247 5 star rating alone. The guys we think of generational QB talent that could have been on that 2006-2014 list, is Cam and Luck, they were 4 star recruits. Even the best of the college QBs like Deshaun Watson and Marcus Mariota were 4 star recruits. I could be wrong but Tebow and Winston are the only two on that list to win a national championship.
My gripe isn't with Fields, I like what I see on tape. It's basically people putting alot of stock into 5 star ratings for QBs. I think there is alot more to a QB development and mental aspect that a composite star rating can't judge especially scouting him against high school talent.

Which makes sense if you think people like Ryan Day and Urban Meyer don't have any ability to evaluate QB talent on their own and are just going by star ratings.
If you think guys like Ryan Day and Urban Meyer might know what they are doing when it comes to evaluating QB talent then your concern makes somewhat less sense.

The list also shows the gap in competition between Hs and college, and the Grand Canyon sizedgao in talent between college and the NFL. Also this list is interesting due to a number of guys that had serious injuries.
Fields’ HS tape is comical to watch, most of his runs would never happen in college. He must be playing some pretty suspect competition. I’m not saying he’s not talented, but anything on tape is hard to gauge. But his arm and legs make him a valuable asset in this asset. I just hope that he’s what has been described as, a pass first QB with talent and athleticism to move the chains with his legs. Essentially a picture perfect spread type QBfor college

Exactly Jax. Reports are that Fields isn't just an amazing athlete, but that he excels in the intangibles like leadership and work ethic. Exactly what a Meyer-led offense has always required. This dude is going to be a stud. My only concern is the NCAA waiver getting approved so he can play right away.

I think you got to the root of this for me. I trust Urban but we have yet to see a QB Day has recruited. I do trust Days development. That's why I want to see Tate and Fields compete for the job.
I trust that Day has been developing Tate right. I just don't have that same trust in he Georgia program for Fields. Fields could be a year away for being ready if the offense is hard for him to pick up or he wasn't developed properly at Georgia. Then the waiver comes into play and you always have to worry injuries. All that comes into why I think Day should be trying to keep Tate as long as he can.

Georgia has a history of pretty damned good quarterbacks. That’s the least of my worries.
The Martell situation needs to be resolved one way or another. It’s becoming evident that the quarterback room will not be harmonious if he stays.
The silly thing is that he could have done the exact same thing that Joe Burrow did if he graduates in May. Compete for the job. Be a good teammate and leave as a grad transfer. Instead he’s initiated and huge pile of uneeded drama. He’s done the complete opposite of what Joe did and he won’t be held in the same regard as Joe if he leaves which seems inevitable at this point.
