QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

I have no idea where any of this was going. Regardless of the offense you play in, the route structures, language, play call strings, checks, personnel, pre & post snap reads, etc etc you have to deliver the ball on time within the offense, and/or be good at working outside intending structure when the play breaks down. But you can't make a living off the latter.

What you're saying equates to Justin struggling to consistently process information at NFL speed and needing elite weapons, or a QB-centric running game, to help compensate for that deficiency.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
That's exactly what I'm saying. It's clear he has issues getting through his progressions at times and just trusting what he's seeing and letting the ball go.

He needs to sit the bench and reset most likely. Preferably a place with a good offensive mind that he can pick during that time.

I don't think throwing him back out there with either bad skill players or a bad offensive co-ordinator does him any favors. I'm not sure throwing him back out there right away even with a good offensive co-ordinator and skill players while he is learning a brand new offense is helpful as harsh as that sounds.

Welcome back Justin Fields. He's got the Bears in position to knock off the Lions.

The Bears took a 12-point lead with about 4:15 left. Then managed to give up 17 points and lose.

Edit - that’s the first NFL team to blow a double-digit lead in the last 4 minutes this season.

Has to learn how to take care of the ball. That fumble at the end of the game cannot happen.
Game was over by ten regardless. He had to hang on to it to wait for his WR to get deep.
The Bears are just a bad team. Sadly Fields got a bad hand dealt to him being sent there. What is kind of ironic is that I think the best case for his career right now is that Hairball coaches the Bears next season. And I truly dislike him all around. But he knows how to coach football and he does well with hybrid QBs.
Fields is just in a bad situation.

Not disagreeing with any of what you’ve said here. Unfortunately, Justin has issues taking care of the ball. He needs to remedy that if he wants to stay employed

Unfortunately, Justin has issues taking care of the ball.

What is funny is it has become painfully obvious to me that in the NFL turnovers are way more negative than "making plays" are beneficial. Having a QB that turns the ball over is death in the NFL. Allen is the poster child for this. For that matter if Mahomes does not throw that pick in the end zone and they kick a FG there. They likely kick a game winning FG at the end instead of having to go for a TD.

So for Fields he clearly has issues. But I feel like much of these issues are due to the team sucking and him pressing. The Bears should have murdered the Lions. Time of Possession was 40 minute to 20 minutes.......a 20 minute delta and yet the Lions had more yards for the game.

Read in a way-to-early NFL draft that Bears are fixing to draft the USC QB. Asked a Bears fanatic at club, and he said not, as that would give them two QBs with same skillset. Soooo, maybe instead of drafting a top-flight OT, or Marvelous Marv, Justin will be put out as trade bait, to maybe get one of those folk, and the USC QB. Believe Chicago has two of top five picks this year, so should get at least two starters that will make a difference, or do a 'Draft Day' dance a la the Kevin Costner movie, and get some more usable players. I do hope that Justin gets with a better fit with a team, or gets put on waivers where he can have a hand at where he ends up. Go Bucks!

they have the Panthers pick which is likely to be #1 but their own pick right now is 7-10 range... It will be interesting to see what they do because he's been on fire ... Personally get him the f' outta there.. I agree they know what they have with him and should build around him, but with the way Williams is being hyped up the GM will take him probably by default to not have the "They passed on Caleb Williams".

Justin currently ranks #13 in passer rating this season right between Herbert and Lawrence. Going back to October of last season, over his last 17 starts he's passed for 3000 yards, 25 TDs, 11 INTs, while rushing for 1200 yards and 8 TDs. Half of that production was accomplished prior to acquiring DJ Moore. People bemoan the fumbles (12, 5 lost) but ignore Jalen Hurts (9, 5 lost) has the exact same problem over his past 17 games, which has been glossed over because of the team around him. In the aggregate, Fields has given the Bears 4,200 yards and 33 TDs against 16 TOs over his last 17 games, all while fighting against the incompetence of his own team, coaching staff, front office, and being offered zero protection by NFL officials.

FIELDS SHINES IN SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

The Chicago Bears have won back-to-back games for the first time all season, and Justin Fields is a big reason why.

Fields led the Bears to their most impressive win of the year in Week 14 as he threw for 223 yards and a touchdown while running for 58 yards and another touchdown in the Bears’ 28-13 win over the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions.

As a passer, Fields’ day was highlighted by a beautiful strike to DJ Moore on 4th-and-13 for a 38-yard touchdown.

As a runner, Fields had three scrambles of more than 10 yards. His longest run of the day came when he eluded multiple pass rushers in the backfield before taking off for a 19-yard gain on 3rd-and-8, while his second rushing touchdown of the season came on an 11-yard scamper to the end zone.

Cumulatively, Fields’ 281 yards of total offense were his third-most of the season.

His 58 rushing yards on Sunday brought Fields over 2,000 rushing yards for his NFL career. As a result, Fields became the second-fastest player in NFL history (behind Lamar Jackson) to reach 5,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards for his career, achieving the two milestones in only 36 games (compared to 33 for Jackson).

Fields credited with 2 interceptions today. The first a Hail Mary when the coach should have tried a 55-yard FG on the last play of the first half.

The second on the last play of the game, where his WR Mooney was on his back and had the ball knocked down to him, he gets both hands on what would be the winning TD, and he bobbles it up high enough for a Browns defender to grab it. Hail Mary picks really shouldn’t could the same in a QB’s stats.

Oh well, hopefully that will help get a better draft choice for Da Bears.
