This one is much bigger than just a "boom":

Best of luck to Mr. Fields and his family. They are a fantastic bunch and will make you proud that he'll graduate with a degree from Ohio State.

I cannot speak highly enough with how professionally this was handled. No trash talking, no bad mouthing. Just a young man that wants to play more and a school that thanks him for his year of hard work.

Well done all around.

It's a nice get, BUT what happens if someone from the girls basket weaving team calls him a name? He may have been highly prized but he still has to prove himself to me.
this might be the dumbest post Ive read on this board. marginalizng racism at the hands of a classmate and basically saying he has no right to feel unconfortable continuing in that setting is just asinine.

and for the record every recruit has to prove themself.

I'm astounded by the apparent assumption that Tate Martell isn't a competitor. Does anyone have the over/under on Ohio State wins next season at less than 12 if Tate is the QB? I don't. I'd like to get Fields in case Tate gets hurt, and also, if he can beat out Tate, because he'd then have shown himself to be a helluva player, but I'm more than comfortable rolling with Tate as the starter for the next 2-3 years. This assumption that a guy who couldn't beat out Jake Fromm is automatically going to intimidate and beat out Tate Martell just because recruitniks had him very highly rated is insanity.

Dwayne Haskins couldn't beat out JT Barrett...

If it's THE name, I imagine she'll lose her scholarship too, just like the Gawga baseball player.

You know, like every recruit in the history of football :roll1:

He's definitely not guaranteed to beat out Tate. It'll be very interesting to see how the competition goes. But not beating out a projected top 5 pick, FOY QB who took his team to a national title game isn't a mark against Fields. You can't just be better to force a coach to go through the pain-in-the-ass process to bench a decorated young starter like Fromm. You either need to him to struggle immensely, or basically be twice as good as him. I'm sure he's super confident in his ability, but not sure why he went there if he wanted to start right away.
